forgotten wonders
, March 25, 2000noone talks about these guys any more. this was my 2nd favorite 70s band (steely dan) and this was their best record. the musicianship on this record was incredible. the jam on be free is so tight, and the words just take you back to a time when it was ok to talk about love and freedom. the groove, with funky clavinet even, on time to space just grabs my soul. folks this was music. this was not just a radio band.well done fellas.

| EXPERT RATING: From AMG Reviews From its browntoned cover to its contents, Loggins Messina's fourth studio album is a sober, lowkey, reflective affair. The band's music, with its single flute, violin, and horn lines, directed by Messina's intricate guitar and mandolin playing, serves a series of midtempo tunes expressing a lot of quiet dissatisfaction signalled by titles like "Be Free," "Changes," and "Move On." As usual in a Jim Messina production, all of this is elegantly, tastefully accomplished, but one could hardly come away from the record feeling that all was well in the LM camp. - William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide |
