Pros: the story line is what makes this so good.
Cons: its never said how the doors work.
The most unique and cleaver idea for film, Pete Doctor and other at pixar really mafe perhaps the best animated film in years, Monsters live in a land away from the human world but can enter the human world at anytime to kids scream, the main source of power in their land. The catch is, they are just as scared of kids as kids are to them..so when a small girl finds a her way to the monster world it the so funny....
without the giveway they make a discovery that changes the who way they live. Get it you'll watch it and love it
Pros: Funny.
Cons: Don't look inside your closet.
This a good movie.
Pros: excellent
Cons: no
I raraly will spend money to buy movie DVD. But I will definately to buy Monster Inc. without second thought.
Fantabulous! The movie was great. Cant wait to get my hands on it...
This was such a great movie! The voices were perfect for the characters they played. Throws the whole idea of scary monsters in the closet right out the window. This is a movie I will definately add to my sons collection when it comes out on DVD.
I really loved this movie. I seriously thought I was going to die laughing when I saw it in the theaters.
This movie is for the entire family. It will make you laugh and it will even bring a couple of tears to your eyes. This is a must see!!
The most amazing film of its kind. The movie is hertwarming and fun for everybody, in fact of all of the people I know that have seen it, no one could say anything but amazing things about the cast of characters. Fun Fun Fun!
had to see it twice in theaters and will get it the day it comes out!!
I liked it.The kids liked it.They should add more characters.more comedy.make something a problem and the monsters inc. will fix it.Monsters inc. looks like it can be a real business.Needs a little bit more feeling. But I really liked it.
What a keeper! Saw it twice at the theaters and plan to catch it on cable if I haven't bought it on video by then. The cast is perfect along with the animation. Monsters is more fun when you watch it with friends who will enjoy it as much as you will. I haven't seen anything this good since Aladdin (although Toy Story 2 is right there). I hope Disney and Pixar can keep up this great trend of great animation and story.
man, i cant wait this dvd to come out... this is probably one of the best movie i ever watched... nice graphic, good story and cute characters... MUST BUY!!! =)
Man, aprendiz_de_maestro you have to give disney a break---THEY MAKE KIDS MOVIES! The story doesn't HAVE to have the depth of a Rats of Nimh, or an ET. The movie is a cartoon designed to entertain KIDS, which it does extreemly well, and hey, it just happens to do a good job of entertaining the parents too. A Bugs Life was great--and the Toy Story movies are two of the best animated movies ever. Monsters INC. definately falls into the ranks of these greats.
this movie kicks ass. best disney movie ever. touching and wonderful. i cried! i love sullivan!
This movie by far, kicks Shrek right in the butt! The story telling in this movie, surpasses by far that found in Shrek. There is also nothing in this that may be objectionable to kids, there were a few scenes when Shrek pushed the envelope. The Disney magic is back! Don't hesitate in buying it.
Are we to review the DVD or the movie?
We took our daughter to see this movie for her 4th birthday, while on the Disney cruise ship, and was pleasantly surprised that we both enjoyed it as much as she did. We checked the ships itinerary just so that we could catch it again. We are looking forward to purchasing the DVD. I am sure children of all ages will enjoy this movie.
Enjoy!
This movie is absolutely fantastic. Very different and creative while being completely positive for kids. They shouldn't be scared of shadows in the closet after seeing this movie!
Definite thumbs up. This is first review I've done. No other movie, and we see 3-4/week has impressed as much. A bug's life came a close second be didn't warrant a review.
Do enjoy. I can't wait for it come out of DVD.
In Monsters, Incorporated, monsters make their living scaring kids through their bedroom closets. The reason? To power the City of the Monsters with their screams. (Point to ponder: why dont the monsters do their own screams? If they can roar, they can definitely scream.) One day, a human kid enters their world, turning the lives of every monster upside down. Particularly those of professional scarer James P. 'Sulley' Sullivan (John Goodman), the big blue furball, and his roommating buddy Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal), the little green blue-collared eyeball and a devoted friend to Sulley.
Mike and Sulley race against time to return the human kid back to the human world, sandwiching that into the dramas they currently have in their respective lives at that time. Mike is trying to win the affections of snake-haired receptionist Celia (Jennifer Tilly) while trying to avoid confrontations with mumbling slug monster Roz (Bob Peterson) over a job-related assignment. Sulley is doing his best to keep his Top Scarer throne from being usurped by closest rival Randall (Steve Buscemi), the slithering slimy chameleon type. Monsters, Inc. CEO Henry J. Waternoose (James Coburn) the crab-legged rounds up this grotesque cast.
True to tradition, the Disney-Pixar duo never fails to deliver superb animation that stretches beyond our imaginations. They show it in their creativity of various monster species, in every possible shapes, sizes and positions eyes relative to their faces, and not to mention excellent casting of voiceover actors. Crystal accentuates Mikes brashness, with the occasional obnoxiousness that comes with being a loudmouth. Goodman shows an exceptionally kind and gentle side to Sulley, opposite to what the furball is known for at Monsters, Inc.. He is warm and loving, and dotes on the human kid (ugh!!). In one scene, he actually feels sorry for scaring her. Together, Mike and Sulley compliment each other perfectly in a clown-straightmonster antic that is reminiscent of Abbott and Costello. Celia could not be more beguiling as Tillys voice. Buscemis Randall is every bit as slimy and cold-blooded as his reptilian counterpart.
But, the film falls flat in its thin storyline and excessive slapsticks. Gone are the deep and serious emotional contents of previous Disney films, instead Monsters, Inc. focuses on comical antics almost to the exclusion of all else. While this approach keeps the under-12 fully entertained, it can leave the rest of the older-aged audience peeved at times. Mike and Sulleys attempts to return the human kid to Earth comes across like an extended version of a Mickey-Donald-Goofy situation comedy. Although that is not a bad idea, it does not make the story any more interesting than it already isnt. Mike is occasionally annoying when he breaks into comedy. Yes, he is supposed to be the funny monster opposite Sulley, and therefore gets most of the comedy routines. His problem is that not all of his routines delivered their punches. Case in point: Apartment scene of Mikes motivational speech to Sulley when Sulley is doing morning exercises. But he is not alone. The frequent monster-infected-by-objec

s gigs dehydrate with every repetition. John Ratzenbergers brief appearance as the abominable snowman provides a little relief though.
Monsters, Inc. is not bad compared to most animated films of this year. It is at least more family friendly than the summer-released Atlantis: The Lost Empire. But Disney & Pixars fourth animated film isnt so good next to its predecessors. It lacks the heartfelt storytelling of Toy Story 2 and the wit and colorful characterization of A Bugs Life. It is enjoyable for a good laugh, but only if you are young enough at heart.
