Gut-busting funny!!!!
, March 30, 2001Reviewer: denver - See all denver's reviews1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this Modern Problems review helpful This 1981 comedy features Chevy Chase as Max, an n'er do well, overworked, overstressed air traffic controller (and aren't they always?) who has the misfortune to follow a truckload of nuclear waste in his car on the way home from work one night. After taking a splasho or two of toxic waste on his windshield, Max awakes to find his world changed, and not necessarily for the better. He's got the ability to move objects and people with his mind, a modern-day superman. He puts his newfound talents to use to try to win back his ex, the beautiful Patti D'Arbanville from his two main rivals--Barry, (a younger looking but no less bald and fat) Jeffery Tambor (Hank from Arli$$), and evil macho man Mark (Dabney Coleman). Add Nell Carter and Brian Doyle-Murray to the mix, and the funniest hijinks seen on screen since the last race in Chariots Of Fire ensue as Max gives Barry a copious nosebleed, and Mark is put in his place during the climactic dinner party scene. Does Max get his girl back? You'll have to watch and see. Dabney Coleman's performance as Mark is truly a classic, and is highly recommended to anyone who enjoyed his work in 9 to 5, Tootsie, or Buffalo Bill. ... -
Chevy Chase's Worst of the Worst

Jill Berlin - See all Jill Berlin's reviews 0 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this Modern Problems review helpful Chevy Chase has made so many bad movies in his rollercoaster film career, but this tops it as his worst film of all. His telekinetic powers were mostly silly, from making his rival for his girlfriend nosebleed in a fancy restaurant, to the showdown at the old mansion. There were no laughs, a joyless plot, and this movie is appropriately titled "Modern Problems" because it is just so unfunny. ...
