Carl Cox, if you know anything about the DJ universe than you know that the man deserves respect. He has been a DJ and Artist spanning almost three generations and knows more about being a DJ than just about anyone else in the world. He could already... be a historian the evolution of Techno music, DJs and the rave scene as we know it. He has been called the worlds best DJ. He certainly knows how to mix it up.This one CD is a true tribute to his talent. In 72 minutes he slams through 22 tracks. That is a little harder to do well than you might think. He pulls it together with a cool laid back style that just makes you move. He is virtually flawless mixing in hard hitters like “Timo Maas”, “Barbara Brown” (a.k.a. Misstress Barbara) and “Humate.” This is the first CD in the “Mixed Live” series by Moonshine Music and was a good choice for the DJ. For many of the reasons stated above. The only way to really get the mixed live feel is to see him spin live and realize that you are watching living DJ history. It is quite a treat…The only problem I have with this CD is the fact that the Crowd is a little washed out. You can’t hear them as much as I would have liked. It is fun to listen to the build up and then hear the crowd go crazy. But what can you do? You still get to nuts often enough to know that they are there. If you want a booming CD that is the best you can get without being there than you will like this CD. But don’t just take my word for it. Check it out and see what you think.
