First Rate DLP - a well rounded package

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 18, 2004 | 10 out of 11 found this Mitsubishi WD-52725 review helpful

Pros: Bright HD picture quality, versatile connecting options

    Cons: NetCommander tricky to program,

Mitusbishi's WD-52725 is a terrific demonstration of how wonderful DLP based sets can be. Picture quality is first rate, and there are plenty of ins and outs to satisfy most home theater fans. The set comes with an anti-glare sheild (like so ma...ny high end big screens) but to be perfectly honest I've always been annoyed at the mirror-like reflections that you get of any lit object in the same room when using these. Removing the screen is not difficult - the instruction manual relates the method - but you must have a safe area to store it. We noticed no degradation of the image without the screen, and in our moderately lit room we were much happier with the result. There was a communication problem between the set and the Samsung 360 (high def) DirecTV receiver using HDMI, so we used a component connection instead, noting a slight betterment outputting 1080i from the receiver, even though the Mitsu displays 720p.The only annoyance is with the programming of the NetCommander. Granted that several manufactures are already programmed in, and also the set comes with plenty of IR extenders, but after hours of deliberating I still have a couple of other components that I haven't hooked up yet either because the Mitsu insists I've already occupied certain inputs on my A/V receiver or because its just too time consuming to enter in all the IR codes from scratch. Ah-well- I'll get around to it.Making the jump into Mitsubishi High Definition is easy with a set of this quality. Highly recommended! Read more Less

    Just awesome

    Pros: Everything, except...

Cons: little pricey at first, but buy it anyway, you deserve it

Without going into a full on tech review, the few things I think I can say to get you to buy this TV are Picture quality, colors and screen size. The picture quality is unbelievable as long as you have a good signal. Analog TV doesn't look as goo...d, but hey I could have saved $2200 if all I wanted to watch was Analog TV. DVD's are amazing(Matrix Trilogy) and HD is unreal. The color reproduction and color contrast is amazing. While watching Charlie's Angels Full Throttle, there was a scene with Bright Red light against Black and there was zero bleeding. It was like somebody took a marker and drew a line between the two on the screen. I think this is a very good average screen size. I am sitting 11-12 feet away from the screen and the screen size is perfect. Read more Less
