The story catches up with FBI agent Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) shortly after she successfully disarmed a threat against the Miss United States Pageant while working undercover as a contestant in Miss Congeniality. Having become a media celebrity following her heroic pageant exploits, Gracie has been spending more time lately at the salon than the shooting range, working the talk show circuit and promoting her book. When her friends, pageant winner Cheryl and emcee Stan, are kidnapped in Las Vegas, Gracie's all-out efforts to jump back into action to save them puts her at loggerheads with the FBI top brass who don't want to risk losing their mascot and fear she might not be up to the job anymore.

    Unnecessary Sequel

Pros: A fair distraction for those who expect mindless comedy

Cons: The original was MUCH better

Was this really the best story they could come up with? I'm a Sandra Bullock fan and I considered the original movie a guilty pleasure, although I'm a tiny bit embarrassed to admit it. I had some hopes for this sequel. The hostility between ...Bullock's and King's characters was milked a little too much; it seemed overdone after a while. King's character could've been written to show that she liked Gracie Hart from the beginning. I totally hated the "world peace" references to the first movie, which took place near the end of this sequel. It was WAY too much and I wish they edited it out. Diedrich Bader is usually good comic relief but he was a little annoying in this movie. It's becoming cliche' to portray all stylists as gay men, when there are many female stylists out there. Last of all, while I'd like to see Enrique Murciano, Jr. in more movies, I found Benjamin Bratt's absence disappointing. I'm sure he had conflicts with other projects but it would have made this movie more worthy [for me]. Read more Less
