I thought the two other attempts at making this movie; this one; and the one with David Hartman; were passable attempts at best to modernize the tale. Stick with the original on this, I am not knocking these versions but there is a simple character to the original that captures that time period of the 30-50's when life was simpler. ...

What a truly great movie. Ungimmicky, profound, and by far the best Christmas movie of all time. I give it 5 stars quite easily, for the great storyline, excellent acting, particularly from that munchkin Mara (check out her other movies like A Simple Wish), and also Richard Attenborough as Kris Kringle. Hire this movie, or buy it even. I promise you that you will not be disappointed. One of the top ten movies of all time for sure. ...
