Cuban salsa performer Miles Peña started his career while playing a role in a movie called Los Arifices at the age of eight. Making the decision to become a professional singer, the artist followed studies at the Amdeo Rodán Music Academy, later joining a group called Tropicana Revue. After he settled down in the Dominican Republic, José Antonio Peña began using the nickname of Miles. Soon after recording a demo tape, Miles Peña signed up to RMM, releasing an album called De Que Me Vale in 1993, followed by a self-titled record in 1994. Two years later the artist participated in a tribute album to the Beatles, recording "With a Little Help from My Friends," and contributing with a song called "Mi Tierra Querida" to the compilation Super Cuban All Stars: Made in U.S.A. After issuing Torbellino De Amor, Miles Peña released Mis Ideas in 1998.
