This is a very good OS, to me personally I think this is the best OS Microsoft has released. The only really bad thing about it is that it takes a while to update everything: Internet Explorer 7, Windows Media Player 11, Etc. Overall this OS is the best I ever used because of the compatibility,fastness, and protection.

Pros: Sophisticated Operating System
Cons: Not Reliable with Inkjet Printers
If you're looking for an operating system that's compatible, durable, look no furhter. Windows XP Professional Edition is one of the most reliable systems on market so far. I purchased it about a week ago, but I'm so amazed at all the new features. One thing I really like is that the Desktop is not cluttered with program icons. Although Windows XP Professional isn't cheap, it's worth an investment. I'm from the old school; I simply believe that Windows 98 is an excellent operating system, but what makes Windows XP Professional so unique is the user friendliness. The graphical interface design is quite impressive. The Help & Support Section on Windows XP Professional is really helpful. You can seek any help from freeing disk space, to degramenting your hard drive, etc. From Windows 98 Second Edition to Windows XP Professional was a big jump for me.
The only problem I had with Windows XP Professional is that it's not too user friendly with my inkjet printer. I will eventually upgrade my printer, but the printer prints well, but it takes almost 30 seconds to print, but with Windows 98, the print time was fast.Was this review helpful? Well,I am currently "ON" XP Professional. LOL
I bought three copies just for backup.
It's fast,very fast! I love music and basic gaming,and XP Pro does that and more. Windows Media Player is beautiful,and neat. The skins are cool. Also, there are so many games and software apps to keep anyone busy.
Even with only 192 MB of SDRAM,it is stable and fast on this machine.
And unlike XP Home,there is no activation! Yes! You heard right. You can install XP Pro on many machines with one or two keys and Microsoft will not arrest you! See,this version is for the buiness and profesionals.
It has alot of server features too,and IT add-ons.
I often use this as a music server and as a email server. It works great. But,one cavet. Viruses are more ramput on XP,then on older builds.
So,having a good suit of internet tools is a must. Fortunately,XP supports them all. Even the free ones.
I just wish there was more themes.
The Luna and Bliss themes are very cartoonish and boring after a short time.
It does have a Plus! pack,that adds more themes though.

What is an operating system you may ask? It is what you use to run all your programs on your computer. Without it your computer would give you a black screen that would say that there was no boot disk found and that you needed to insert a system disk. That just means you have no operating system on the drives selected to boot from in your BIOS. What is an IBM computer? Not a Macintosh or Apple computer.

Ubuntu 5.10 is completely free and uses Linux along with the Gnome enviorment. The only problem is that this is a very new operating system and still has a lot of problems. It works well once you figure out how to get it to work. If you can make it do everything you want it to it will keep working for a very long time! It is one of the few operating systems you can put on the Macintosh computers. I had to give it three stars on compatibility just because it works on Macs. When it comes to compatibility and software support they need to go back to the drawing board. Maybe this April when they release there next version it will work better.

Exactly the same as ubuntu exept for two things. It does not work on Macintosh computers. It comes with more software and looks very cute. The Fire Fox logo looks like a cute little fox. This does not improve on the operating system just how it looks.

Well we all know how much fun Windows XP is. It works pretty good since there have been thousands of people working on it for a long time but it only works as good as what people buy. If people would have bought UNIX instead of Windows in the beginning Windows would be much better now. Its failure in support is what made it get the lowest average score of all. It is ahead of ubuntu and edubuntu in almost every other category. Windows XP is very compatible and most people know how to use it. Yet it still has too many errors. A big profitable company should be able to do better.

Suse is much faster than Windows XP and has a variety of free programs that come with it on the DVD install version. Its support is matched by the users who use it. Every user knows that he or she can go to google and look any problem up. They can also download updates just like in Windows. Its dependability and stability are built on Linux. It does not work well on older computers. Its the best free system out there. All your drivers are supported on the internet just do a google search for your driver and type linux in the search box and watch what comes up! XP Professional is a good OS. It needs some work in some areas but is much improved over XP Home. It offers more Windows apps, andsecurity is greatly upgraded, but still need work.
