Pros: Nice interface, has many features, runs smoothly
Cons: Takes up a share of resources, so you must be picky about how you install it.
This is a nice operating system no doubt, but it's a little too pricy for me. The upgrade CD should be the cost of the full edition in my opinion. You know what though? We're talking about Microsoft here. Don't be suprised. Also, as usual, Microsoft offers NO support for this product. I bought it in a store, and they said they can't help. Scammers. Also, the requirements can be a troublesome for some people, especially those with older computers.
Pros: Great Stability and more...
Cons: N/A
This is the best operating system Microsoft has ever made! I have used Windows 98, 98SE, and Windows ME. Windows XP is the best!
I upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP now my computer is faster and very stable.
Did you know, Windows XP is the union of the business edition of Windows, NT, 2000, with the home editon of Windows, 95, 98, ME. Making great compatibility and stability.
You must upgrade your windows if you are using 98, 98SE, or ME.
Pros: Easy Management
Cons: Not Compatable with all Programs
I bought a Compaq PC In 2003 It came with Windows XP Home. I did not have to do the upgrade (lucky me).I was use to using Win mel. Windows XP has been a joy to use for me.I like the fact if something goes wrong and something crashes I can send an error report to help get it fixed. The downside for me is all the security updates that need to be installed to keep everything up and running, these updates take up a lot of room. Over all I would say Windows XP is a good Program to have if it suits your needs such as is dose mine. I will not own another Pc without it.
Windows XP cost me $100 but I several items in my computer that were compatible with 98 are not compatible with XP. Software no longer compatible: MusicMatch, Callstation, ACDCviewer, and several games. Also my BestData modem no longer works and the computer no longer shuts down automatically(I have to press power button). To bring it back to the same funtionality I had with 98, it's going to cost me $200 in software and hardware upgrades.
It sounds crazy but I am considering reinstalling 98!
i dont care if anyone hates apple, but windows sucks. Its ugly, you cant do anything but business and you cant have any fun with it. Nope, none at all.
don't bother to upgrade if you're computer is older than 2-3 years. i have a gateway G6 PII333 bought in 1998. many of the hardware and software are not compatible with xp. some of the peripheral devices (such as printer, scanner....) need to be re-install. some requred addditional software which can be download form the manufacture's website. some are not supported by xp at all.
hello every one
for everyone who has XP home, or is thinking of buying their verson listen up! I upgraded from Windows ME and XP was a huge pain to install! 1).It was a HUGE pain to install! I had to install it like 5 or 6 times before i finally got internet access! 2). MONEY! I (and you) have to spend a lot of money to upgrade all your programs to make them compadible with XP. i meet the minium requirment of 64MB of RAM and i have been told that XP is Memory Hog! causeing you to go out and spend $30-60 on meomory. Think about it. the depening on what verson of XP you buy(Home $99/Pro $199/) and there is also the upgrade, or the full installation. say you buy the Home upgrade for about $100 and you have to buy new verison such as, oh lets say Norton Anti Virus 2002, and a bunch of other stuff. well software is around $40-$60 and depending on how much you buy it will be a lot. and there is a saying if you have to spend more then $500 on a upgrade you are better of getting a new PC. But if you got a computer no later then the begining of 2000 you should be fine. just read up on XP and here what people say.
But i am dogg up XP so dont get me wrong. it really is a great OS it is more stabble then XP and AOL moves a lot quicker then ME. and i dont get kicked off line anymore. and it is just a matter of adding more memory and new verisons of prgrams very slowly. i would recomend XP for the right people. HAVE FUN!!
It's an excellent tool so far but I can't forget the nightmares I have been thru while upgrading it from Me. People, please make sure you have all the drivers ready beforehand for all the devices on your machine if you are upgrading from Me. I think Win2k users would be fine.
<EOM>I would like to buy this upgrade. I have heard nothing but GOOD reviews about this product.
Just purchased a Compax PC with P4 1.5Ghz and come with Windows XP Home edition 2002 version.
Why 2002? A good sense of being advance in the IT technology, right. It is nice to look at, safe to touch and smart to use. Good experience indeed!
