Pros: A good healthy laugh, at purchasers. like the shops do.
Cons: Unsupported, Hackers bonanza, Rootkit fieldday.
Hi All,
I was just browsing about and this caught my i. I have used this OS and it is not reliable, it offen freezes for no reason and you will soon learn what Ctrl-alt-del means.
However, it is as low as you can go (in windows) and still have multimedia function.
All this is very well, but what took my breath away was that the robbing scoundrals are charging joe schmuck 45-60 dollers for an unsupported OS.
Hello ! Is there anybody in ? The implications of this are many, not least the boost to the script kiddies, Just in case you do not understand, and it would have to be so for you to be considering purchase.
Lets put it like this, if you have a wolfe/doberman, (insert any dog/animal that you consider vicious) So this animal is keept safely in a cage in the middle of a town, but it keeps trying to get out (this is the hacker/marketeer though ironically trying to get in) Now there is a team of professionals just behind the beast repairing the fence holes as they appear, (Microsoft/security patches).
Well the 'team' of fence repairers have gone, packed up and left, never to return.

Windows 98 SE is better than all other windows. [XP made a come-back on their SP2 for XP] MS has awesome products, but expensive. instead of buying them, teach these lame MS people to put the price down, by getting these MS softwares from cheap online stores.. "you can actually get any software under $100" i believe windows 98 SE is $15!!! check that LOW Price***

i need a microsoft windows 98 cd. the cd i have now has lost some of its files. so it is not much useful to me. therfore i like to hear how much cost a new cd and then if i have money, then i will order for it.

After struggling for months with ME, I finally broke down and bought 98 again. Linux was a thought, but its so hard to teach an old dog new tricks

In my opinion, Windows 98 is a great OS... but MS should rethink some of their marketing strategies. For one, the price is outrageous. Another complaint I have is that I plan to rebuild an old Compaq PC I have into something that is upgradeable, but I am forced to buy a full version of Windows 98 due to the fact that without the Compaq motherboard, the "restore disk" will not be able to reinstall Windows 98 onto the rebuilt PC. Instead of paying $200, go to ebay and buy one for around $80 - $100.

What a joke total rip off! It's a great system but the price is rediculous. If you ever have Hard Drive problems and have to re-format your screwed. Most computers come with the cd but not the product code so you can't reinstall or format and you have to spend another $160-$240 for another joke of a disk!

I think, this is MS's way to encourage

Mac OS Users (and Linux users) may rate this a "1" but Windows 98 isn't nearly as bad as they say. A good upgrade from '95, and great for multimedia.

Windows is way past its prime. 98 is a space hog. It is Win95 with different colors and different BMPs. If you have Windows now, about 45% is garbage on your hard drive.
