Cons: Awesome design, poorly initiated
This trackball is, by far, the most comfortable, logically laid-out design to date. The controls are perfectly positioned, in terms of ergonomics, and the way that your hand rests on the device is extremely comfortable, even when gaming for several hours. The Logitech Trackman Wheel is far less comfortable, as it is humped in the middle.
The extra two programmable buttons on this device are a fantastic benefit. I simply use them for back and forward, for web surfing. Unfortunately, after owning four of these, it is clear that these two buttons commonly cease to work after several months of use. This has happened on each unit I have owned. Microsoft never bothered to fix this design flaw, which seems like it probably could have been easily remedied. Fortunately, on this last unit which I still have, the back button still works.
The feel and precision of the ball on this device is exponentially superior to that of the LTW. However, it requires a bit of care. When the ball becomes "sticky", the ball must be removed, and the ball socket must be cleaned, particularly around the three ball bearings. You clean the ball using furniture polish (such as Pledge), which not only cleans the ball, but keeps it rolling smoothly.
Unfortunately, Microsoft has discontinued this device rather than work-out the problem of the side buttons failing, which undoubtedly happened on almost every unit. It's a shame. ...

Pros: Right and Left click buttons; Internet back and forward buttons
Cons: Trackball sticks; navigation is sluggish and inaccurate
Would the trackball were as smooth, easy and precise as Logitech's Marble Mouse! Microsoft has imitated this feature very poorly.
