    Michel'le Ruthless' First Lady!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 8, 2005

Pros: Production by Dr. Dre is second to none!

    Cons: None!

Michel'le came out at the same time as the rest of the RUTHLESS ATTACK POSSE. The whole album is great with lyrics written by Dr.Dre, Laylaw, The DOC, and La. Dre, with executive production by none other than EAZY E himself! Vocals are great and ...an overall good effort for a first outting. The bad draw is she waited almost 10 year sbefore her next album which showed that the music and the production had changed. Plus being involved with SHUGG KNIGHT isn't helpful. I'd wish she come back with another album! By the way, this was the last album ICE CUBE would be featured on before he left RUTHLESS RECORDS to pursue a solo career.... Read more Less

Michel'le, the girl with the squeaky speaking voice and thunderous singing voice, stormed onto the music scene in 1989-90 with her smash self-titled debut. The album is post New Jill Swing, incorporating a mix of hip-hop, dance and RB, well before Mary J. Blige and Faith Evans perfected the genre. Michel'le produced several huge hits, including the unstoppable (and irresistibly clever) "No More Lies," which became a Top Ten pop hit, its follow-up "Nicety," and the RB/dance hit "Keep Watchin'." The real gems on this set, however, are the slow jams. The smoldering "Something in My Heart" became a hit well over a year after the album's release, and other tracks, such as "Silly Love Song," "Close to Me," and "If" are just as good. Unfortunately, it took Michel'le nearly a decade to deliver the follow-up, 1998's Hung Jury, which completely paled in comparison to its predecessor, although she was a featured vocalist on the Dogg Pound's 1996 hit "Let's Play House." So, as it goes, powerhouse ...chanteuse Michel'le, who actually played a part in spearheading a musical movement for which she is entirely uncredited, will be remembered for this sole, wonderful album. A true classic, and a must for fans of hip-hop and timeless RB. - Jose F. Promis, All Music Guide Read more Less

Biography

Michel'le

One of the more interesting urban contemporary vocalists of the late '80s and early '90s, the Los Angeles-based Michel'le was known for having a squeaky, high-pitched speaking voice and an aggressive, full-bodied style of singing. Some people jokingly called her the Betty Boop of urban contemporary, although the Boop comparisons had more to do with her speaking voice th... Read more
