The pan flute tradition has continued to evolve through the playing of Swiss-born Michael Dinner. The manager of a publishing house and pan flute school, he inherited the late Thierry Tutellier's post as official pan flute builder for the city of Opfikon in 1997. Playing the block flute since the age of three, Dinner switched to the pan flute at the age of ten. Although he studied in a beginner's class at the Migros School for a year, he switched to private lessons with Peter Schinz when the course was discontinued. He made his performance debut as a member of the Pan Flute Ensemble. In 2002, Dinner published the compositions of Rumanian pan flute player Damian Luca.
