Miami Vice makes its way to the PSP, with a story line set just before the events of the 2006 motion picture. Playing as either the man who made pastel tees and five o'clock shadows the rage for fashionable young men in the 1980s, or as his laid back, smoothtalking partner, gamers will guide Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs through the notorious South Beach underworld, from the bottom up.

Multiple missions are available, from chasing after criminals through the city streets of Miami to powering down the coastline, engaged in open boattoboat combat. Also available is a two person coop mode, allowing players to team up via the PSP's wireless capabilities.

In order to infiltrate the channels that will lead the duo to the head of the drug cartel, players must first establish an undercover reputation worthy of attention from the criminal powers that be. By engaging in drug deals and using computer espionage, players can raise capital while building their muchneeded badboy reputation, potentially leading to choice encounters with powerful drug lords that play out through interactive cutscenes. ~ Damian Francis, All Game Guide

Pros: Great sense of atmosphere; intense and responsive gunplay; drug-trade elements make the experience all the more immersive.

Cons: Over too quick; enemies aren't terribly smart or aggressive; some sound effects get repetitive.

Miami Vice: The Game puts you in the shoes of either Sonny Crockett or Ricardo Tubbs, two undercover narcotics officers working for the Miami-Dade Police Department. Since this is based on the 2006 movie and not the 1980s TV series, the characters ar...e modeled after Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx, though the voice actors who stand in for the stars, while total pros, don't sound a whole lot like them. After you save an informant from a vengeful associate in the opening level, you begin climbing up the drug food chain, gaining a reputation on the street and taking down cartels dealing in weed, meth, and of course, coke. There's a little double-crossing and a few portentous phone calls that go on during cutscenes, but Miami Vice is heavier on premise than it is on actual story, which is fine since it does such a great job with the atmosphere. The game takes itself quite seriously, just like the source material did, which is vital in keeping the game from coming off as a parody. Read more Less
