Meteos is the second game to be released in North America from designer Tetsuya Mizuguchi's studio, Q Entertainment, and the first for the Nintendo DS. Similar in spirit to the PSP's Lumines, Meteos is an actionoriented block puzzle game, adorned with otherworldly graphics and an emotive soundtrack. In Meteos, differently colored blocks fall from above into the touch screen playfield. The object of the game is to launch the falling blocks back up into the top screen. This is accomplished by aligning three or blocks of the same color in a horizontal row, using the stylus to swap the places of any two vertically aligned blocks (not completely unlike Bejeweled). Once a row of three blocks is created, it will turn into a rocketpad base that blasts off into the upper screen. This rocketpad row has only so much power, however, so if too many blocks are resting on top of it, it won't be able to lift them all and will eventually fall back down into the playfield. ~ T.J. The only Puzzle Game i've ever loved

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 22, 2006

Pros: Intuitive Controls, Great "Fun Factor", Frantic Local Multiplayer, High Replay Value, Unique Puzzle Gameplay Concept

Cons: No Nintendo Wi-Fi Online Multiplayer, Plain Graphics

Let me start by saying i'm usually a gamer who loves Real Time Strategy, First Person Shooter, and other genres of games, but NOT puzzle games. That being said, this puzzle game falls within the top 3 games i've ever played. Once you grasp th...e basic concept of the game (align 3+ blocks vertically or horizontally to blast them out of the playing field), the controls are slick and intuitive, the action fast-paced, and the gameplay addictive. In addition to the core game being a blast, there are a multitude of game variants and "planets" (changing the properties of play such as gravity and power of the "rockets"), adding a huge amount of replay value. Local Multiplayer is also a huge part of the game, with both single and multi-cart options. The only major complaint I could ever make against this game is that it has no Online Multiplayer, which would make the game last even longer, and be even more of a value. Overall though, I give a 5/5, this game really takes me back to the core value of what a great video game should be - intuitive, addictive, and a blast to play in multiplayer mode. Read more Less
