Konami’s cardbased spinoff of its Metal Gear Solid franchise makes its second appearance on PSP with more cards, a new game mode, and special 3D effects. Once again players must make strategic decisions by playing a choice of 500 cards to initiate specific actions. The story line finds Solid Snake unwittingly involved in a secret government plot to create a deadly new Metal Gear robotics system. As Snake delves deeper into the operation, he begins to have flashbacks of earlier conflicts in his life, creating a new problem to overcome: his past. Players will be able to directly guide Snake’s movements and initiate a wider assortment of moves, from crawling to fighting. Card types have expanded to include linkage cards, which can be played for bonuses, and trap cards, which implement locationspecific hazards to ensnare the enemy. Each card can also be upgraded during the course of play for added functionality and strength.

Metal Gear Acid includes a new arena mode where players can confront an assortment of boss characters, many of which have been pulled from earlier games in the Metal Gear Solid series. Players can also link up with a friend in Adhoc mode for headtohead tag matches with their custom card decks. The developers have focused on a number of visual enhancements to further draw players into the handheld game, with celshaded graphics for a comic book look, more varied animations, and 3D effects brought to life with the exclusive Solid Eye viewer. The Solid Eye fits directly over the PSP to display videos in 3D as well as downloaded images from Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence on PlayStation 2. Those new to the Metal Gear Acid universe will be able to learn how to implement stealth tactics using the card system through an interactive tutorial mode, allowing them to finetune their tactics before trying them out in the middle of a mission. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

A new acid trip with metal gear acid 2

Pros: improved play control, and Graphics,3D mode

Cons: that stupid "3-D scope", game was a tad bit too easy,

I'm a fan of the metal gear series, and after playing the 1st metal gear acid, I just had to play the 2nd one. I liked the bright colorful graphics compared to the first one and fighting bosses from other MGS games was a plus. Watching the cut sc...enes from Snaker eater in 3-D was really cool(too bad it was in japanese). Flipping through and playing your "cards" is now easier. There is now a "sell" option so you can now get rid of all those "extra" cards. Now the bad points: The design of the 3-D scope SUCKS! They could of disigned something flat that attached right on the PSP screen instead of making it into a put together black cardboard box thing that you slip your psp through. Your eyes are going to suffer a thousand woes if you try to play in 3-D for too long. And why the asian chick models in some of the 3-D movies? I didn't pay 30+ bucks to look at them. I'd just skip the asain chick scenes. They weren't ugly or anything, but for crying out loud! They had nothing to do with the game! Another bad point is that if you want to start a new game, you have to go through the tutorial mode no matter what. You can't skip it. The game was easier than the last one. I finished it in 15hours(on easy) verus the 40 for the first one. They should inculde some voice acting and acutal cut scenes instead of static pictures(and don't tell me the producers of this game didn't have the money to do so! Just don't put any of the asian models in there). Other than that this was a very Good game, but I suggest you rent it or borrow it from somebody(like I did) before you buy so you can try it out. Metal Gear Ac!d 2

The real joy here, though, is how user-friendly this sequel is. The entire thing still requires the use of cards to perform most actions - movement, attacks, healing, and so on - but it's all so easy to understand now. Read more
