Messaoud Bellemou
Affectionately known as 'La Pere du Rai (The Father Of Rai)', Messaoud Bellemou helped user in a new era for Algerian dance music. A trumpet player in a village band, during the 1960s, Bellemou has continued to incorporate western instruments, including saxophone, trumpet, violin, lute and accordion, and influences ranging from jazz and rock to flamenco and Latin music.
