Why Demene E. Hall isn't noticed in this film.

Pros: Demene has a name on the credits no one noticed.

Cons: Demene was a confirmed Catholic at one time.

I liked the fact that a major motion picture star of the late 1900's was in a dire predicament.

If you know blacks in films you know that they are very anti-white.

Demene causes confusion. Why?
Because she beat up her Catholic mother and ran away from home to Tiajuana [in real life].

The Crisis: her shorter than average father who attends mass weekly didn't know that she was a prostitute in the black film market. When I found out I emailed him.

Know that Demene may still live in Mexico and there might be identity theft.

There is no greater joy than knowing that her first friend in Hollywood was David Hasselhoff who I hate with a passion.

Catholics are very stern when it comes to family films and this one should get Demene on the chair or in a chamber toward Purgatory.

Trully an awe-inspiring film. De Niro at his best. Cuba Goodings is firm and rigid and portrays the character well.The film beautifully depicts the other half of American Liberty....RACISM.Hats off the whole team.

Men of Honor is truly a Historical Moving Drama that swept me away. Such details are not intruduced just a grumpy drunk man played by Robert Di Nero and a normal strugled man that just wants to do something in his life played by the amazing Cuba Godding, Jr. wich is honor. And he gets it alright with a few pressured moments. Robert Di Nero characters seems to make the film go down and sink but Cuba Godding, Jr. Characters seem to go up. This is not a very detailed Historical true story but it is a spirited one. Such drama and courage was presented nicely by Cuba that the film should of Honored it. Grade A

I thought Men of Honor was a truely great movie, the only problem I had with it is that I was once again disappointed to see all the deleated scenes in the bonus material section of this DVD. I personally have no problem watching a long movie and regret hollywood's notion that they always have to delete these sceans to keep movies shorter. Men of Honor would have been a lot more enjoyable (not to mention only about twelve minutes longer) had they left these scenes in.....

Have you ever looked at a movie in both widescreen and traditional at the same time? Widescreen lets you see more horizontally. If you don't like widescreen, it's because your TV is too small. Your fault, not the DVD's.

WIDESCREEN DVD's DON'T MAKE SENSE

It doesn't make any sense...... Yahoo should make a survey of all the people that are in favor of widescreen, probably 8% would be in favor.

Why does almost every movie have to be in this 2.35:1 format. It's a complete waste of my screen. 1.85:1 is an acceptable widescreen format but is rarely used. I refuse to buy another 2.35:1 movie EVER!

Without sounding as if I am old-fashioned person who was born before the Second World War (I was born shortly AFTER it), this is the biographical or fictional kind of movie about real-life or imaginary heros that Hollywood used to make when our society still had heros and had a more hopeful view of life and the future. Since this was set in a mulitary setting, I think of the many war movies made about battle heros, such as "Sargent York" with Gary Cooper, or non-mulitary heros, such as "The Babe Ruth Story" with William Bendix. Hollywood does not make these kind of movies any more because our culture in general and our youth to whom it seems to cater the most have become so cynical and disillusioned with our leaders and institutions who seem to be so corrupt, selfish or greedy or opportunitistic. It is so good to see a movie about a real person who worked so hard to overcome personal and societal adversity and racism to triumph over it. It gives me hope that I can overcome my own problems. When I saw how hard Carl Brescher worked to be the best in order to overcome racism and to overcome the amputation of his leg to be reach his goal of being Master Diver, it makes me feel my efforts are inadequate and encourages me to strive harder. Carl was a real hero to inspire us all. The movie was well made and well acted by the principal actors, Robert DeNiro and Cuba Gooding Jr.. "Good on ya, all." WE NEED MORE OF THESE KINDS OF FILMS TO BE MADE, ESPECIALLY OF REAL-LIFE INSPIRATIONAL "HEROS" LIKE CARL BRESCHER.

DeNiro plays an unlikable character you can not help but like. Gooding is good, but near the Louis Gosset Jr mark of overacting.

The story is inspirational since we know it is based on truth.

This was one heck of a movie. Robert DeNiro did an outstanding job playing a tough role. One reason it's such a great movie is that it's a true story. Goes to show that you can accomplish almost anything if you have the determination.
