    Pros: very touching

    Cons: a bit sad

    She is like water when faced with obstacles it finds another way to keep runningÂ…a memorable movie!...It made me want to see more of the far east movies.

    Pros: Beautiful to watch

    Cons: The viewer needs to know some world history

    An extremely visually pleasing film, with a very good plot. As a bonus the film is rather accurate as to the history and culture. A chic flick worth watching.

    I watched this movie On-Demand a few weeks ago and really liked it. It entranced me. I enjoy learning about cultures different from my own.     Stunning and Breathtaking

    "Memoirs of a Geisha" is probably one of the most beautiful films on the market today. Not only that, it also reaches out and touches you in a way you don't expect. I have read the book around 10 times, I loved it from the first and was... concered when I found out they were making a film of it. Rarely do director's translate books well to the screen. But this movie will take your breath away. Ziyi Zhang is perfect in the lead role as Sayuri and all of the supporting cast (who aren't even supporting, they each stand out on their own!) make the time of the Geisha come alive. I found myself in tears at times and laughing at others when Sayuri triumphed. Highly recommend. Read more Less

    Pros: It was a beautifully captured video

    Cons: It did stay too much with the original story fromthe begining

    Memoirs of a geisha was a visually stunning video, Inspiration settings, and a lovely cast. You really felt for her strength without the directors having to go too overboard with drama. Simplistic as it was moved you in every way. I will buy this DVD..., and I have already watched it twice. The soundtrack was awesome, for lack of a better word. I would definitly reccomend this movie to anyone. espeacially the ones interested in Japanese culture. Read more Less

    A completely new perspective on the japanese culture for me. A movie that started like a sad story turned out to be a movie about aspiration and genuine feelings.

    Pros: To see into another culture and to learn something new, it was great. The actors/actresses made you feel like you were there with them experiencing it with them.

    Cons: Wasn't long enough! One that you want to keep going!

    I will buy this movie, I really enjoyed it. A great love story with plenty so suspense as well.

    Cons: Trafficing of children

    I hate that we have to see the trafficing of the children at the beginning of the film. But, then perhaps people need to realize that this is still going on. Children and Women are still sold into slavery like cattle. Z Anyway, beautifuly filmed and... written you are brought into the world of the Geisha that most of us are clueless about. Honestly, I guess you have to come from such a sad beginning to dream of being a Geisha one day. But, as the story unfolds, you almost can understand why these girls become who they do as they grow up. Michelle Yeoh was striking and beautiful in this film. I loved her character and her grace. She has made me take up interest in her other films. Ziyi Zhang is also beautiful with eyes that lure you in. A young actress, she is very impressive in her delivery of the young Geisha that the film revolves around. Read more Less
