Pros: looks cool
Cons: small loads-dirty clothes-poor quality
I had an old Maytag that I bought secondhand. It worked great for 20+ years, so naturally I assumed the smart money was on Maytag, Right? You get what you pay for right? WRONG! This washer was the coolest thing since popcorn when I got it, I was even amazed at how it seemed to wash clothes with almost no water. Well this is great for energy conservation, but sucks if you want clean clothes. The only way to get clean clothes is to wash really small loads (7 towels max.). It's 2 years old now and needs a new brain (control board). Seriously I'm debating on just getting a different washer, instead of repairing it. my $.02

Pros: Lots of features
Cons: Doesn't work as advertised!
My machine is having trouble getting the dirt out! It even seems that some clothing is more soiled after I have run them through the wash! My wife thinks I am understating this issue. I wrote emails to Maytag but they have not responded in over a month now.

Pros: efficiant, quite, gentle on clothes
Cons: washer is reallly heavy around 200 pounds
I have had our neptune for a month now. I have done plenty of laundry in it seeings as I have two year old. This washer is my new best friend. With a bit of shout and HE detergent there is no stain that hasn't been defeated. This michine has a spin cycle that cuts my drying time in half. My cat thinks that seeing the laundry beeing washed is quite entertaining as well! If anything goes wronge with the michine or my opinion changes I will keep you posted.

Pros: No agitator; gets clothes clean
Cons: Washer doesn't last
My first Maytag washer last 30 years (yes, I replaced the motor but it worked great until parts were wearing out that couldn't be replaced). I decided to splurge and get a front-loader. I do like the machine. It will do large loads. It will not tear up clothes like an agitator will.
However, it doesn't have the Maytag quality. After 4 years, it would not spin the clothes dry. I had to spent $250 to replace the control board. Now, 10 months after that repair, it is doing the same thing again. It's just not worth the money.
It does not have the smell problem that the Whirlpool front loaders have. It is fairly quiet. But a washing machine this expensive should last longer without major repair bills. I wouldn't buy it again.Was this review helpful? Yes - No
