
Romantic soul singer awarded as the Revelation of the Year in 2000 at the seventh Multishow Music Awards, Maurício Manieri worked in the early '90s with the duo of DJs Thaíde e DJ Hum and with the street dance group Unidade Móvel. As a keyboardist, he worked with Alexia, Double You, Undercover, and Culture Beat. His first solo CD, A Noite Inteira (1998), sold 350,000 copies and in the next year had the track "Bem-Querer" included on the soundtrack of TV Globo's Vila Madalena soap opera. Having been included on the compilation CD Todas as Garotas de Ipanema with his interpretetion of "Garota de Ipanema" (Tom Jobim/Vinícius de Moraes), in 2000 he was invited to record the Brazilian version for the Elton John songs of the soundtrack of Dreamworks' animated movie The Road to El Dorado, having had the results approved by John.
