Originally out of Springfield, MA, where founding members Tableek and Roddy Rod grew up, Maspyke signed to Elektra in 1993, after the label heard the group's threesong demo. Nothing ever came from that deal, so the pair of MCs added producer Hanif "HBomb" Jamiyl to Maspyke and began to work with independent studios instead. In 2003 The Blackout, a rerelease of a 1998 album originally sold only at shows, came out on ABB Records, and in 2005 Maspyke issued Static with their own label, Bukarance...
