One of Seagal's best .. who was better?

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 26, 2002

After Chuck Norris movie era, Steven Seagal, Dolph Lungren, and Van Damn were doing karate for movies released in US. Van Damn only study martial arts and had few unknown competition matches. Dolph Lungren was a Judo European Champion, Steven Segal was a Master Black Belt and taught in Dojos and even instructed CIA. Lundgren and Seagal would have been a good fight, but Seagal would take it. Good thing Van Damn had good kicks and special effects cause Seagal could easily take him down. Good movie for martial art collectors

Steven Seagal teams up with Rapid Fire director Dwight H. Little for Marked For Death, a story about a cop who gets entangled with a voodoo gang. This may seem as an unusual Steven Seagal film but all the normal ingredients are here, Seagal plays a cop (who is also an expert in martial arts) and happens to stumble on this voodoo gang, who now want him and his family dead. The reason why this movie doesnt arrive DOA is because Steven Seagal choreographed all the fight scenes himself (and does it extremely well) and it does drive curiousity to see how Seagal would take on a bunch of voodoo freaks. A well made movie.

    Not Seagal's best.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 18, 2000

MARKED FOR DEATH has Seagal return to his normal cop character who's family is being terrorized by a drug dealer named Screwface who uses vodoo. The cop story and the vodoo background doesn't mix well together. A few good action sequences but otherwise passable. A.k.a. SCREWFACE
