Following the demise of the British avant/punk band the Pop Group, singer Mark Stewart hooked up with the New Age Steppers, a loosely knit avant-garde funk aggregation spearheaded by dub producer Adrian Sherwood. Stewart joined Sherwood and the other future members of Tackhead -- the Sugar Hill rap label's house band of Skip McDonald (guitar), Doug Wimbish (bass), and Keith LeBlanc (drums) -- and collaborated with them on a series of projects credited either to Stewart alone or to Mark Stewart...
