Guitarist Domenic Troiano formed his first band, the Rogues, in the early '60s. With vocalist George Olliver and drummer Whitey Glen, Troiano changed the name of the band to Mandala in 1966. After several singles, Olliver left to form George and the Children, so the band recruited Roy Kenner. The band's first album, Soul Crusade, appeared in 1968.
