Awful...
I'll give it two stars for Paul Giamatti. Otherwise- it was horrendous. Mediocre performances, to be very kind, and absolutely no attempt at getting the viewer to care about the characters. I had watched a biography of Kaufman prior to seeing the film-- and this movie was basically the exact same thing. A "true-life" movie should be much more than that. This was not.

one of jim's best works ever. he was able to get into the character very well and i don't think anybody else could have played the role as well as he did.

You might as well call Jim Carrey in this movie a clone of the Andy Kaufmann. It was a great performance. This movie was hilarious, and real good humor, not that stupid make women laugh witty crap. Real good stuff. I recommend it to anyone who likes stand up comics and screwing with people.

In this movie Jim Carrey does a lot of interesting things, just like Andy Kaufman did. It was sad toward the end of the movie, though in some parts it was funny. He really got into the character both on and off set. When you talked to him off set, you didn't know who you were talking to, Andy or Jim.

It's about time Jim Carrey decided to do something serious, instead of doing stupid comedies like Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber, the Cable Guy, etc. This is a serious movie about a comedian legend. Of course, you must know who Andy Kaufman is before watching the movie. If you don't who Kaufman is, you may not understand this movie. This movie is way too good, I watched it for more than ten times.

When I first saw this movie, I didn't know excatly what to feel. Did I like it or didn't I? The funny thing is, Andy Kaufman probably would've wanted it that way. I had to watch it more than once to realize what a special movie this is. It doesn't exactly give you more insight into who Andy Kaufman was, as opposed to just reenacting some of his exploits. The real delight is seeing Jim Carrey embody the role. For a minute, I had to remember that Jim is playing Andy. This is definitely a must-see movie.

This movie was just simply good. It's a Great movie about a pretty out there guy (Andy koufman) Played by the only man crazy enough to portray him (Jim Carrey). A movie one could watch over & over.

As a film alone, it is quite uneven and has no real payoff. As the life story of Andy Kaufman, it is an even greater dissapointment. It gives the viewer little insight into his life or development and spends more time renacting his classic bits. Jim Carrey does a wonderful job with what he is given though.

Jim Carrey gives an oscar worthy preformance as eerie comedian Andy Kaufman. Proving his dramatic skills, Carrey adapts an exact likeness of Kaufman, portraying him as the not-quite comedian people loved. Wether you like Carrey or Kaufman, this movie is a must-see for fans! If you don't like either, still give this movie a try, I guarentee you'll love it. REM gives an awesome soundtrack to accompany this movie masterpiece!

The film was not bad. I'm not saying it is bad. However, from Milos Forman, who seems these days to specialize in Biographical films, it was entirely mediocre. The film tried to walk the line between traditional narrative and wacked-out semi-experimental, with pretty lukewarm results. I didn't feel I knew Kaufman, even a little, and if that's what Milos was going for than that's a dumb concept for a film. The film would have been better served as a straight narrative, and let the Kaufman routines carry the weirdness, or he should have just thrown convention out the window and made a film that reflected the weirdness of Kaufman's life. Instead it was a parade of Carrey mimicking Kaufman's routines. Boring. I'd rather have the real thing.

Even if you didn't like Andy, you will love the movie. An unbelievably fantastic acting performance by the ultimate Jim Carrey. This movie is a must see. You will enjoy it.
