Product Description: Makita 2703 Table Saw
A portable table saw can have all the features in the world, but if it weighs too much it’s useless for the job-site. This is why Makita has designed the 2702 and 2703 to weigh only 40 pounds! Travelling from site to site couldn’t be made any easier. In addition, transport is even simpler with built-in storage slots for the miter fence, rip fence, and wrenches.
If power is what you demand, the 2702 and 2703 feature a 15-amp motor that delivers extreme torque, capable of cutting through hardwoods, pressure treated lumber, and framing lumber. Rest assures, Makita did not skimp on the engineering of its motor. The Makita manufactured motor spinning at 4600 RPM will insure professional results while it’s superior electronics stops the blade in 2 seconds enabling quick adjustments with limited downtime. Replaceable brushes can be changed simply and quickly, extending the life of the saws.
The 2702 and 2703 are all about simplicity. A large, circular depth setting handle quickly adjusts to the desired setting. The cam-locking, one-touch rip fence locks simply and is always parallel to the blade. The rack and pinion bevel adjustment is accomplished with an easy turn of the wheel to the preferred bevel degree. With fast features such as these, jobs will be finished in record times.
The cutting capacities are definite market leaders. The 2702 (8-1/4”) saw has a maximum cutting capacity of 2-11/16” at 90? and 1-3/4” at 45?. This huge capacity allows the 2702 to cut 2x material at 45. The 2703 (10”) saw has a maximum cutting capacity of 3-9/16” at 90? and 2-1/2” at 45?. The 2703 can rip 4x material in just one pass!
An advanced transparent blade guard covers the blade and protects the user from dust and chips. This three-piece guard is designed to protect even when shaving off thin slices. The blade is also enclosed on the underside of the table by a dust shoot that directs debris out a 4” OD port. The Makita Dust Collection System may easily be attached for dust-less saw operation.
The durable 27” x 22” grooved aluminum table is large enough to handle rips up to 12” wide. With plenty of space in front and behind the blade, support and accuracy will be accomplished with ease. The 45 and 90 stop adjustments are located conveniently on the top of the table for simple and accurate adjustments.
The 2702 and 2703 Portable Table Saws are covered by Makita’s one year limited warranty against defects in parts or workmanship, and may be serviced at more than 300 Makita authorized service centers nationwide.

Pros: lightweight
Cons: constant repairs
This saw really is a piece of junk. The constant repairs and downtime have made this saw unusable for me. I am a finish carpenter and need a reliable saw daily. I bought this saw because I move from job to job and this thing is very light. Also the old 8" Makita saws were excellent and I expected the same quality from this unit. I lost an hour of time yesterday trying to fix a part I had just replaced about 2 months ago. I almost threw it out the window but I figured I would replace the broken part AGAIN and keep it around the house for a spare. I am going to buy the Bosch. This saw would be a great portable tablesaw for a homeowner but not a professional. ...
