    Great entry level GPS

By Kevin Amoth  Dec 26, 2007 | 12 out of 13 found this Magellan Maestro 3100 review helpful

    Pros: Simpy to use

Cons: Not a large amount of points of interest

This unit was highly spoken of in a website in which I'm an adminstrator. So with positive remarks, I bought one. It has been on several long trips and never let me down. It lacks a large amount of points of interest but that is not a concern to ...me. Great suction cup mount for windshield. Recent price reductions have prices under $150. Read more Less

    GOOD BYE MAP

By Kenneth S  Jan 3, 2008 | 6 out of 6 found this Magellan Maestro 3100 review helpful

Pros: Easy to use, Extra Features

Cons: No plug for home charging. Thats an extra purchase

My wife got me this unit for Christmas and I love it. We took a trip to Sea World and never got lost. I like the feature on the touch screen, where I just tap on the hotel or ATM and I get the address and phone number. It was nice to know that the ho...tel in route had a vacancy. Some other nice features was knowing my elevation and even my speed. At least I know my speedometer is working just fine. Bye this Product! Read more Less

    Pros: Ease of use

Cons: Volume not loud enough, more distance

My family and I recently moved from New York to Texas. I never once had to look at a map. This unit gave perfect door to door directions. There are only 2 things that I can complain about, the volume of the commands can be louder (with the radio on &... a car with 5 people in it it sometimes was hard to hear) And when traveling at highway speed sometimes the commands to enter or exit could have came with a little more warning (distance). Just what I needed

By CaptainKodak  Dec 26, 2007 | 3 out of 3 found this Magellan Maestro 3100 review helpful

Pros: easy to use, good value

    Cons: can miss new roads

This is a great value for someone who needs good basic directions. I am a real estate appraiser and travel to several areas. This unit has been able to direct me to the places I needed to go with no problem. It is a great time saver as I am not consu...lting a map all the time. It is easy to use, with good basic features. It has a list of recently visited points that you can call up quickly. I plan to purchase another one for the office soon. Read more Less

Magellan 3100 After 3 months use in a Semi

    By Fan_Of_MsIND84  Dec 26, 2007 | 3 out of 4 found this Magellan Maestro 3100 review helpful

Pros: Very easy to use interface, Turn by Turn directions,Gets you right to the destination safely as long as it's available.

Cons: Cannot update software,Maps, some addresses/Towns cannot be found that includes major highway/intersections (East of Missisippi).

Bought this unit at the Petro T/s Ex 159 I70 in IN/OH line aprox 3 months ago for $250. With tax etc the price was $267.89. Anyhow, since the unit's maps/software cannot be updated it likes to route me up Ex151 on I70 (US27NB) which has been clos...ed for over a year due to const. Once I came off US 35WB to go to Dunkirk IN, unit told me to go left at ramp. When I executed the left turn it went into "Recalculating Route" mode and told me to make an immediate legal U turn. Although that is possible to do in a car, in a semi very hard. We have to find siutable parking lots ect to turn around in. Once went to Grand Rapids MI to a company who has been there for 18 years, and as per GPS I was driving around in a open field. It couldn't even find the sterrt. Synopsis: These GPS units sold in truckstops accross the country are mostly for CARS (Automotive), they work, but they can't tell if you are in a SEMI. If you want truck GPS, get one that does trucks only like PC Miler or Co-Pilot. They have not put out a dash-mounted GPS for a Tractor/Trailer Combination Vehicle yet.(To the best of my knowlege). And truckstops should stop selling these GPS units or at least mark them as CAR GPS USE ONLY. Regarding this Magellan 3100. It works, if you can live with the glitches now and then. But I would probably have a mapbook handy to double check the suggested directions. Not deppend entirely on it. Read more Less

Pros: size, quality, easy to use

Cons: a bit long to get initital lock on signal

I bought my unit at Costco for $199. It's very easy to use compared to the built-in unit in our SUV. Although the screen (3.5" in general) is a little small, I like this unit alot. It does take a little longer than I'd like to get init...ial signal lock...probably a minuite or two...but once there it stays locked. A great little unit with TTS to boot! Read more Less

    Would NEVER recomend Buying one

By good f  Dec 23, 2008 | 1 out of 2 found this Magellan Maestro 3100 review helpful

Pros: Easy to use and program route

Cons: My wife and I have used it several times. It's only been accurate 1 TIME. Not very dependable..

I bought This because most of the Reviews on it were good. So not worth buying. Easy to use.. YES it is. BUT.. BUT.. It's almost always wrong. On 1 trip it was almost EXACT on the spot. But all the other times it was way OFF... One time is was of...f by at least 2 or 3 blocks. And its always saying the wrong side of the road.. EVERY TIME. It will say Right and be on the left side.. Then on one trip I programed it to take us home. It has us making like 6 turns when the road we needed was straight down 1 road then 1 turn. It got my wife lost a couple of times. Not worth the Trouble. I purchased a Garmin and it's been almost exactly on the spot every time. Read more Less
