ESPN Aint Got Nothin On Madden

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 14, 2004 | 3 out of 3 found this Madden NFL 2005 review helpful

    Pros: Everything You Can Imagine

    Cons: Absolutely None

This may not only be the best sports game of the year, but also the best Football game ever produced...period. Last year I was an ESPN Football convert, but gradually improved my Madden game enough to enjoy playing often. No doubt about it, the learn...ing curve for Madden Football in my estimation is "Steep" compared to ESPN, and any other football game because of the sheer amount of controls and features. No play is ever likely to be exactly the same.I'm amazed EA Sports was able to cram so much into this year's Madden Football compared to last year. The game is more streamlined, easier to control, and extremely efficient. I dare say I'm really not sure it can get any better than it already is, and I've never really been able to say that for any game.. except GTA:Vice City. But I think I'll be proven quite wrong come October. I figured ESPN would be a strong competitor this year against EA, but they absolutely got blown out of the water on this one. They are a far cry from matching the quality of this game, and I wouldn't even waste your time with ESPN Football. If you're willing to play at a higher level, save the Xtra dough, and you won't have any regrets. BTW, once again the soundtrack is kickin. Read more Less

    Great football game

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 11, 2005

Pros: Excellent game play. Good graphics.

    Cons: presentation

Madden 2005 is not much different from Madden 2004. Just a few add on's. You can control the defense alot more this year. The game play is smooth and realistic. The presentation is not nearly as good as ESPN 2K5. On 2K5 it looks like a actual TV ...broadcast. Madden needs to improve on the presentation. Read more Less

    Pros: everything is awesome

Cons: needs just a plain season mode

as always madden tops the charts of football video games. its better then espn version. everything u can do is great about this game. the all new feature is awesome. just hit the analog stick to make a huge tackle most likely a fumble. Watch in franc...hise mode as a player tries to become the best ever. sign free agents, trade unhappy players wit the all new morale, draft rookies to become the next ray lewis, or peyton manning, this game is the best. I give it a 100 out of 10 (NO I WASN'T TRYING TO SAY A 10 OF OF 10) Read more Less

    Madden NFL 2005 Playstaton 2

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 23, 2004

Pros: HIt Stick Mode ( laying the wood, nothing like it)

Cons: controls not adjustable, (I had to get used to a new speed burst button on Defense, not too much of a complaint)

First and only complaint, when are they going to put in HALF SACKS, and ASSISTED TACKLES/SOLO TACKLES, it's frustrating because they implemented (2004) GROUP TACKLING and it could use improvement, but is still pretty awesome, BUT each year (in th...e game) I half sack the quarterback with someone eles at least 10 times a year, assist tackle at least 4-5 times a game and get no credit for it, thats 20 sacks, and 128 tackles over four years, thats big on Carreer stats. I converted to Madden NFL when PS2 had their first copy (Eddie George) I've owned every title since. I owned a dreamcast, and have an Xbox,(ESPN, its fun), but Madden is the best overall to play for franchise mode because of the depth. If you want to just play a game here and there against a friend you might like ESPN2K5 better, because the learning curve for the controls is quicker, and graphics are Unparralled, but, for all the hardcore football gamers, the New Hit Stick mode is awesome. You can just nut-up on somebody, and there's about 6 different types of big-hits, depending on your angle and speed, and better yet, it's risky if you take a bad angle, you could miss altogether(which madden ridicules later) or you might just have a weak hitter,(strength/
tackeling) in this case, and the guy your hitting is stong(strenght/
breaktackle) you'll more often than not get run right over, which means you cant just hit it every time, you have to time it just right (especially on a pass) I usually land about 1-5 per game(using one player) yeah, and I'm good at defense, so you have to work at it. Anyways if you at least play on All-Pro mode, you wont blow out the computer every game once you get good, (unless you have Michael Vick) no defense can stop him. Also balancing the cap in franchise mode got much harder, and you cant just trade any player you want now, the fans get mad, the player's get mad to the point of not playing for you anymore, it's awesome, the most lifelike so far, Great Job Madden an Company.

Madden 2005 IS STILL THE BEST FOOTBALL GAME OUT.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 13, 2004

    Pros: HIT STICK FRANCISE MODE

Cons: MADDEN IS A LITTLE SLOW LOADING

THIS IS THE BEST MADDEN YET. MADDEN GETS BETTER AND BETTER EVERY YEAR,AND FROM THE LOOK OF IT THEY ARE NOT SLOWING DOWN 1 BIT. I HAVE BEEN BUYING THE MADDEN GAME FOR PLAYSTATION2 FOR 4 YEARS NOW AND MADDEN HAS NOT LET ME DOWN YET. THE HIT STICK THAT ...IS NEW TO MADDEN IS OFF THE HOOK. YOU CAN HIT OTHER PLAYERS LIKE RAY LEWIS AND WARREN SAPP LAY THE BIG HITS IN THE NFL. I HAD TO WAIT IN LINE FOR A HOUR FOR MADDEN 2005 AND IT WAS WORTH IT. MADDEN IS THE BEST FOOTBALL GAME OUT PLEASE DO NOT GET ANY OTHER FOOTBALL GAME THAN MADDEN. Read more Less
