    Superstar mode, great feature

By tuggernuts  Aug 22, 2006 | 3 out of 3 found this Madden NFL 07 review helpful

Pros: amazing graphics(to be expected), new modes along with mini games

Cons: can be difficult to control player at some times and no fantasy draft in franchise mode

Overall it was exactly what i was looking for, the madden series had a terrible year last year as far as the xbox360 games go. The visuals were fine and that was about it, the game was just boring with only the play now and franchise mode,EA failed t...o deliver. This is not the case with the 07 installment, the new features are all fun, and the individual camera view for every position in superstar mode gave u a feeling of really playing as the character. This will be a great game to play alone or with a group of friends. Read more Less

    Pros: Better looking

    Cons: Same game new year

Its just a beefed up version of every other madden. Personally EA could take a lesson from ESPN 2K5. There needs to be more NFL games not just one.

Madden 96 is a better designed game!!!

By Christopher  Aug 22, 2006 | 1 out of 1 found this Madden NFL 07 review helpful

    Pros: Excellant graphics

Cons: Missing game play from the past. Major step back!!!

I have been an avid Madden player since 1994 and this is by far the biggest disappointment I’ve ever had on my Madden Holiday. Lets start off with one of the few positives I have to say about this game. The graphics are amazing on the XBOX 360, but ...that is pretty much where it all ends. Lets make this short, because I can go on all day about this rushed out piece of garbage. When I first started playing the game I noticed that some of the rosters are a bit outdated, which has never been a problem in past Madden games on other systems. You simply update the rosters by editing any player you wish. Well, with the XBOX , they are trying to force you to buy XBOX Live, which will allow you to update players online. I have no problem with that, but I do have a problem if there updates are not fully correct or you want to change a players position and number yourself. With this game it is impossible to that or even edit players equipment for that matter. As the problems continue I come to find you can’t make custom packages or substitute players, which makes no sense, because I could make formation substitutions in Madden 96 on Sega Genesis ten years ago. For the non football fans that just play the game for fun this is not a problem. But for people that understand their favorite teams and rosters, it is rather silly to have your starting defensive team run down on kickoff because you can’t make substitutions. If I remember correctly, I’ve never seen Ty Law run down on the kickoff in real football. This also brings up problems, for teams like the Dolphins, who have a player by the name of Jason Taylor. He plays DE and OLB. In this game he is rather ineffective because you can’t sub him in at OLB on certain formations. Superstar mode was hyped, but it is really a piece of crap, just like the rest of the game play. It is slow, boring and pointless. Practice sucks and when you are not playing in the game, the computer simulation is entirely too slow. Zero fun. I wanted to take a nap. We have also had several crashes and we’ve only been playing few hours. I am sure the online play in amazing, but if you are looking to the great realistic franchise modes, with ownership abilities of the past you will be greatly disappointed. It is very limited and not worth your time. This piece of junk really makes me appreciated Tecmo Super Bowl and its roots of quality old school game play. Ultimately, EA Sports has rushed out another piece of crap because they have the market cornered. They have replaced key attributes of Madden with useless upgrades disappointing fans across America who thought they were getting the best Madden game since they own what is supposed to be the most superior video game system on the market. I call bulls#*t on EA Sports for even releasing Madden on 360. Read more Less

When Are We Going to Learn

By Skrappy  Aug 22, 2006 | 1 out of 2 found this Madden NFL 07 review helpful

    Pros: Looks Great

    Cons: Just About Everything Else

Since the NFL decided to stop caring aboout its fans that play football video games, it has been a downward spiral ever since. Just like in anything else in life, competition forces people (or companies) to step up their game (no punn intended). So f...ar this has not happened. The folks at EA are content to sit back and let their cash cow bring in the money, with minimal investment on their part. With an entire year to improve the game over last years debacle, they decided to settle for a half harted effort. Why can so many other software companies turn out fantastic games in a years time that have no history whatsoever, and EA cannot seem to do anything right with two? Read more Less

COULD HAVE BEEN SOOOO MUCH BETTER

    By illmatic29579  Dec 31, 2006

Pros: GREAT GRAPHICS, THATS ABOUT IT.

Cons: OUT OF DATE ROSTERS, NO OPTION TO EDIT PLAYERS, I COULD GO ON AND ON.

I AM A HARDCORE FOOTBALL GAMER, AND WHEN I PAY TOP DOLLER FOR THE ONLY FOOTBALL GAME ON THE MARKET, I EXPECT TO BE ABLE TO CONTROL EVERY ASPECT OF THE GAME. FOR INSTANCE I JUST GOT MY XBOX 360 FOR CHRISTMAS, AND I AM A NEW ORLEAN SAINTS FAN, THEY DON...T HAVE MARQUES COLSTON ON THE GAME. ON PS2 OR ORIGINAL XBOX YOU COULD CREATE A PLAYER AND PUT HIM ON THE TEAM, EDITING HIS ATTRIBUTES AS YOU SEE FIT. NOW YOU HAVE TO COMPLETE THESE STUPID DRILLS, AND IF YOU GET 1 OR 2 WRONG YOUR PLAYER WILL SUCK HORRIBLY. I DONT SEE HOW THEY CAN HAVE THESE FEATURES ON THE PS2 AND XBOX VERSIONS OF 2007 BUT CAN SEEM TO PUT IT ON 360, ALSO THERE IS NO FANTASY DRAFT. I COULD SIT HERE AND GO ON AND ON ALL DAY, BUT I JUST DONT HAVE THE TIME. IN ORDER TO HAVE A TOTALLY REALISTIC FOOTBALL GAME U NEED TO HAVE TOTAL CONTROL OVER ALL ASPECTS OF THE GAME. AS MUCH AS IT KILLS ME TO SAY THIS, I HAVE HAD MADDEN EVERY YEAR SINCE IT WAS ON SEGA, AND I WILL NOT BUY THIS CRAP NEXT YEAR. EA SPORTS NEEDS TO STEP UP THERE GAME OR IM SURE THEY WILL LOSE A LOT MORE CUSTOMERS OTHER THAN ME. Read more Less

Ashamed to say I own Madden

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 26, 2006

    Pros: Excellent graphics

    Cons: The game sucks

Let's start with the most important one I found absolutely insane, how can EA offer the create a team option on ps2 and regular xbox but not xbox 360? How can EA offer the training camp mode before you start pre season in ps2 and xbox but not xbo...x 360? On top of other numerous things I found wrong with this game I am genuinely upset over the fact is that I cant seem to change anyone on the depth chart. I've always been a fan of Madden and EA sports and called them a top quality video game company that kicked the hell out of the competition, but this travesty of a football game has made me want to vomit. I hope EA takes a good long look at everyones reviews of this years game and makes the necessary changes or they will up sh*t creek without a paddle. Read more Less

    Ea is Toeing the Line.

    By Buccy  Nov 22, 2006

    Pros: Graphics and Gameplay better

Cons: Shell of a game, put no effort to add anything.

Where do I start and where do I end. The graphics and gameplay are improved over 06 and over the current gen. They still have issues, with QB throwing motions, the field getting tore up in 1 quarters time and the faces squashed in the helmet. But wha...t kills this game is that they put ZERO into the franchise mode, they put ZERO into any other features leaving this game a shell of the current generation. EA should be ashamed of the poor job they have done, and it is apparant with the amaount of complaints they have got. Record numbers up by 200% per one account. They are already running on a deficit, can EA come back and be a successful company or will they belly up? If they don't turn their flagship around, they might be forced to sell off some divisions or just file chapter 11. Either way, a monkey could run the company better. Read more Less

    Pros: only pros is graphics

    Cons: everything else

in my opinion the 360 version of madden is a COMPLETELY different game. the controls and the not so fluid movement of the players annoy me to a level of wanting revenge. this isnt what i payed for. omg u guys (ea) have stuck it to me again. keep this... up and those numbers are gonna surely drop. Fellas trust me on this, play it before u buy it.YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!! ITS NOT LIKE THE PS2 AND XBOX VERSION. Read more Less

    Madden NFL 07 (xbox 360)

    By Albert  Aug 22, 2006

    Pros: Real players and teams

Cons: Horrible loading and framerate drops in the middle of the game

First off this review is for Madden 07 on Xbox 360. I've owned just about every madden since 92 on Genesis. Love my Xbox 360, but this game really disappointed me. All the in depth features are there this year (unlike 06), like franchise mode and... superstar mode but the game itself feels like it needs another 6 weeks of polishing. During the game vital stats like what down, play clock and game clock are so tiny that they are difficult to find. This is important information during the game and it's annoying to try and see it. The cut scenes become very annoying and really bog the game down when you're trying to play with regard to the flow of the game as well as bogging the framerate down. You can hit A to skip the cut scenes but the 360 is under such heavy load (CPU i'm assuming) it takes a couple of seconds to respond, ugh. During a game, after every play it seems like the playbook has to load off of disc adding to the problem of the already noticable lagging. It got so bad that my 360 has froze on me twice in the past 2 hours. It seems like EA worried more about trying to make a 3D realistic crowd and didn't pay enough attention to the actual game. I expect a patch may be coming very soon. Even the presentation became annoying after a while. The menus are very unintuitive and I seem to be constantly fumbling around (no pun intended) just to try and find what sort of game type to play. Overall the game seems to be falling all over itself in terms of performance and sheer number of options within every single sub menu. I tried playing the franchise mode after playing a game and unlocking some of the hidden "old school" players that you can unlock. To my dismay the computer recognizes these players and then scrambles to sign them to their rosters. Very annoying because you want the rosters to be true to life, but that gets ruined because of all the unlocked classic players that are thrown into the mix. I haven't tried playing online yet, but as choppy as the game gets when playing single player I don't have a lot of faith in the online mode. There are some other annoying issues in franchinse mode like when trying to pull of a trade. I haven't been able to look at a players attributes that are on the trading block without backing out of the trade screen and then trying to dig up the player on the other teams roster. That is incredibly time consuming and also very annoying. Also you used to be able to put your own players on the traing block and then run a scan on what teams are interested in that player along with offers. I can't seem to do that anymore either. All in all I guess the word I used most to describe this game is annoying and buggy. Oh well there's always next year. Read more Less
