Pros: Amazing features, beautiful screen, totally worth it.
Cons: Battery life (I need it to last about 10 hours, I'm a teacher.).
As all of you probebly know, .Mac has (personally) the best computers around. When I heard this was coming out, I saved up for it...my job as a teacher, who's school is very high-tech, I wanted to have a nice computer, for my days.
As any normal Mac/Apple computer has, it has many magnificent easy-to-get-to features. I was totally excited when I saw everything.
The screen? Very beautiful and bright. I recently went on a cruise and took photos and looked at them on my laptop, beautiful. The huge screen and bright colors...amazing.
Being a teacher, I needed to get to things fast. (ie Word, internet, etc.) I wanted a laptop to do that. And I did...WOW!
This computer is one of my all time favorites-AMAZING!

Pros: light, includes, cam and dvd player
Cons: sometimes software is slow
I love this computer. I live in Costa Rica now and cannot do without it. I highly recommend it. the 15" is quite suitable for my purposes and with extra memory I cannot lose. Security is excellent. Auto backups are perfect. there is nothing I don't like about this computer.

Pros: Very fast...great for the long-run
Cons: A bit pricey
I bought this computer in January 2007, and one concern of mine was, 'will it be worth the cost in the long-run?' All I can say is 'yes.' I can foresee It being very usable and up-to-date years from now. If you use a computer for everything you do (both professionally and personally), it will, or at least should, meet your needs for a long time. In recent years (the last five anyway), Apple has really made great gains in technology to be THE computer company. (Where there MP3s before the iPod?). This computer seems to be its flagship computer...I haven't seen in person the new, and I haven't used, the Airbook, but I have no regrets with the 17-inch MacBook Pro.
As for Microsoft compatibility, it didn't come with Mac's version of Microsoft's office...you know..Word, Excel, Powerpoint. etc. I got this from my local CompUSA store for about $150. It's a must considering most of the world uses Microsoft's operating systems, and if your very used to using its applications, as most of us are, you definitely need this. Apple's version is 2004, but you get updates from Apple, so there's no problem with compatibility. I do have one STRONG recommendation for die-hard Microsoft users.
There's a downloadable system called 'Parallels,' available at http://www.parallels.com/ It only costs about $75, but it allows you to run both the OS system and any Microsoft system at the same time. All you need to do is click on the Parallels application and the whole screen 'spins' around and presto, you're now using Microsoft XP, Vista, or whatever you want. If there's an application you want to use that will only work with Microsoft, it's a godsend.
In short, if you're worried about losing your safety blanket of Microsoft, you have the best of both worlds...the no-virus, no-worry Safari internet browser with all the applications of Microsoft. The MacPro-17-inch is great.
