Following Menudo's footsteps, MDO got involved in the Latin pop scene by the end of the 1990s with a charismatic style, combining singing and dancing. The group started as a foursome. MDO's original lineup was Anthony Galindo, Alexis Grullón, Didier Hernández, and Abel Talamántez. After conquering Puerto Rico, these good-looking young men began touring Central America, getting a growing number of followers. In the year 2000, Anthony Galindo left the act while Troy Tuminelli and Pablo Portillo joined in. In October, MDO's Subir Al Cielo was released by Sony Music, getting good reviews and soon having its song "Te Quise Olvidar" on the top of Billboard's Hot Latin Tracks.
