Users found this M*A*S*H review helpful I had always watched the T.V. show so when I finally saw the original movie I was very surprised.I loved it!A wonderfull portrayal of war life. And quite an ending as to how they say the credits!Must see! Also,an interesting fact, the theme song,'Suicide is Painless',is instumental on the T.V. show whereas it is actually sung in the movie.... ...

The movie was very diappointing. Donald Sutherland sleepwalks through Hawkeye's role, displaying none of Alan Alda's charisma or mischievous comic genius. Elliot Gould is equally flat and unfunny as Trapper John, sporting a handlebar moustace reminiscent of Ben Stiller's in Happy Gilmore. The actor playing Blake (So forgettable, I can't recall his name) was flat, detatched, devoid of emotion and disconnected from reality, and Sally Kellerman in her portrayal of Major "Hot Lips" Houlihan was far too vulnerable to be believable--Loretta Swit's Houlihan would have had Hawkeye's guts for garters!
The actors all seemed flat and one-dimensional, with none of the humanity that made them so endearing in the series.
Other than that, it wasn't bad. ...
