    Okay, okay - by now, you've probably heard the terrible reviews (which, depending on how gullible you are, you may or may not have believed). Well here I am, your trusty fellow reviewer, to set some things straight. ;) Let me say it once and for al...l: "Lucy" is NOT a disagreeable album. It's actually quite creative, innovative, and diverse in style - which's probably what led to the bad reviews (geez...people just don't know good music when they hear it!). But, alas, the tracks on Candlebox's second album aren't as radio-friendly as some people would have them be. So, what does an excess of creative energy plus no radio air-time amount to? You guessed it: disappointing album sales. Okay fine - not that many people bought "Lucy". Well, who the hell cares? I sure don't! "Lucy" is wonderful in its own right. The melodies rock, the vocals and lyrics are super - what more do you need? Hmmm...maybe an excellent drummer and a cool bassist? Well, you have that too. Any more complaints??? So people, give "Lucy" a chance. You might find that you like it, and after several spins, you might find that you like it A LOT. And so you should! Songs like "Simple Lessons", "Best Friend", "Drowned", "Become (To Tell)", "Understanding", "Vulgar Before Me", etc kick ass! And if you're like me and especially love a good frontman, you'll absolutely adore Kevin Martin, who can do unfathomable things with his voice. (I just LOVE the way he sings!) So go get "Lucy"!     I like this album.

    I purchased this cd at a used cd store last week, and after playing it a few times, I really enjoy it. Quite frankly, I don't know why this album failed to sell more copies. The only thing I can see that would be a reason is there really isn't a stan...dout single like "You" or "Far Behind" but overall, I think it's a much better album than their debute "Candlebox" in 1993. I think fans were expecting another album that was exactly like the first one and probably dismissed it without giving it a chance. I especially like the singles "Simple Lessons" and "Understanding" why they weren't top ten hits back in '95, I'll never know. I think this album came out about six years too soon. If this album were released today, with the alt-pop scene being what it is, there would be about three or four hits for sure. Anyway, if you like the pop-alt sound, if you're in your late 20's like me and you remember the early 90's alternative sound, I recommend this cd, it has that good early 90's to mid 90's rock sound that you all remember. If you became a Candlebox fan after their first album but didn't give this album a listen because you heard bad reviews or whatever, shame on you, go, buy this cd, it's a good listen, trust me.
