    Pros: Basic,Basic Arrangements And Understated Playing

    Cons: Not What You Would Like Pyrotechnical Or Heavy

    Bob James was probably the earliest progenitor of what we'd call 'smooth jazz' today.In his day it was known as pop jazz.Take this CD 'Lucky Seven' for instance:James had a backround of TV and film music and that does play a part ...in all of this music.He arranged the horns and strings too but very well.Two slow songs "Friends" (the only vocal tune here) and "Blue Lick" are actually very jazzy and romantic.Generally speaking three uptempo tunes dominate-the upbeat "Rush Hour",the similarly patterned "Big Stone City" and the funky,bass-y "Look-Alike",ea
    sily my favorite on the album.So for all you contemporary smooth jazz listeners MOST OF IT IS GARBAGE NOW!!!If you want to hear some pop jazz with REAL instruments played by REAL people 'Lucky Seven' is a good place to go!
