judging by the previous posting, at times I think we laymen ought to leave music reviews to people who have studied, understand, and can appreciate music. That said, I'm going to offer my opinion anyway, if for no other reason than to offset the previous 'expert' review (see 'Loveshitty') This is not Prince's best work, but I think that there are enough high spots (especially "Anna Stesia") to merit a good rating from me. At times artists like Prince, who have enjoyed considerable commercial success, frustrate their more fickle followers by taking their music in a different, less accessible direction. This is what makes Prince the greatest artist of my lifetime, his ability and willingness to explore new outlets for creative expression. And if this review seems like a rant, it is, but there is not one album that Prince has released in his career that could accurately be labeled 'shitty'. To the previous reviewer, go listen to your Prince collection, which most likely only consists of "The Hits", and leave the rest of the Artist's works for the rest of us true Prince fans

As a huge Prince fan, this album was disappointing. And not just because of the picture. It is very unfocused and there are too many mistakes. Apart from 'Alphabet St', 'Anna Stesia' 'Glam Slam' and 'Positivity', the rest of the tracks were simply, to put it bluntly, crap. It just didn't make sense. It would've been much better if he had gone along with the 'Black album'. Major error.

Ooooooooh, I love this album to the last second on it. He really proved me wrong about the older you get the lazier you get. T'was the turning point to Prince's music life, he developed a positive thought and love inspiring album, though he was going thru hell. I mean the dude posed naked on his cover what more could you ask for from him. I love this album so much that I even got the font that he used for the letters on the album. This album show's you the conversion from his 80's music, to the more poppyish 90's kind of style. I really respect him and love him for this album right here.

commercially, lovesexy was a big desaster in 1988 and if you look at the cover the reason is obvious.
a great one- track (!!!) album with many classic tracks like alphabet street and the beautiful i wish u heaven with only a few throwaways like dance on and positivity.
the only reason lovesexy gets only four stars is that it has to compete with masterpieces like purple rain, sign o the times or his 92 symbol album...

My least favorite album from Prince....

I, too have enjoyed this album for the past decade. Prince always delivers good spiritual and sexual messages. I love 'Alphabet St', 'Anastesia', 'I Wish U Heaven' and '(o) Know'. The cover's cool too.

A fine album...

This still strikes me as being his most personal album. It is a fascinating mix of sex, spirit and sounds. The opening track is a gas, Alphabet St one of his best singles and When 2 R In Love is beautiful. A fine album.
