Pro Reviews: Love Songs

  • All Music Guide

This romantically themed greatest-hits collection features most of John Michael Montgomery's best-known love songs, including "I Swear," "I Love the Way You Love Me," and "I Can Love You Like That." Sweet, idealistic songs like "Holding an Amazing Love," "Oh How She Shines," and "High School Heart" play to Montgomery's strengths as a vocalist; likewise, his distinctive, consistent style gives the collection a nice flow, despite the fact that it covers nearly a decade's worth of music. Though it doesn't paint as representative a picture of his work as his regular Greatest Hits compilation does, Love Songs does highlight one of the best facets of his music.
