From those who don't enjoy his music, Ray Charles'music goes un-thought-about. When I came to this site and saw that this page was unrated, I thought to myself, "What am I to do about this?" and I clicked right on the hyperlink and came straight into this place and gave Ray Charles five Stars. | EXPERT RATING: From AMG Reviews Ray Charles has sung thousands of songs and many of them were love songs. For the compilers of Rhino's Love Songs, the ones that mattered are classics. Yes, there are a couple of unexpected inclusions that are thrilling, such as Leon Russell's "A Song for You," but for the most part it's standards like "I Can't Stop Loving You," "Come Rain or Come Shine," "Baby It's Cold Outside," "Georgia on My Mind," "You Are My Sunshine," "How Deep Is the Ocean" and "Till There Was You." True, there aren't too many big hits here, but that's all right, since every performance is superb. Since it spans so many years, the collection feels a little disjointed in places, but it will still satisfy fans looking for a strong collection of some of Charles' finest love songs. - Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide |
