Great acting by all the crew especcially Lacey Chabert. Too bad shes 21 now, oh well.
The TV show had something that this movie totally lacks: humor. This movie takes itself way too seriously, and the plot holes and lousy script can't be forgiven since it's trying to be a serious film. They should have kept to the cheesy roots of the Lost In Space genre. Avoid this movie, there are much better ways to spend your time and money. If you want a sci-fi that has fun with itself and is fun to watch, try Men In Black.
The movie had great special effects, some of the characters lack characteristics from the original like Mr. Robinson and Penny Robinson. Mimi Rogers (Mrs. R) and Heather were sexy. Matt played a good Don and Gary Oldham played doctor Smith a little too aggressive but was good. The story was good but could have been better, the special effects was the bomb and made the movie.
I'll give it that. But, it just doesn't catch the original feeling that the show had. This is like a remake that they tried to make original.
I LOVED the movie!!! I saw it on TNT BTW it'll be playing March, 12 and 16th on TNT at 10 PM est! I LOVED Matt LeBlanc! He was AWESOME in the movie! Not to mention HOTT! This was one sweet movie, the special effects were AWESOME! The actors were AWESOME! They all did an EXCELLENT job! This is DEFINATLY a new Fave of mine. Ya'll should see it!!!!!
I'm glad I'm watching this on TNT and not in the movie theater. With the exception of Oldman, none of the actors are convincing. If you really like special effects or are especially curious about the remake of the 60's TV show, don't bother.
I must offer a kudo for Lost in Space. I truly enjoyed the special efx, particularly Dr Smith as the spider creature (*shudder*). As this film is based on the 60's TV series, we need to allow for a certain level of camp. It's all in good fun! Although I've got to admit, Maureen Robinson's comment about "hosing down the decks with testosterone" was a little much. I would
recommend this video to anyone who wants to experience a fun space adventure without taking the story too seriously.
"Lost in Space" is possibly one of the worst movies of all time.
The first half an hour of Lost In Space is
excellent, with a thrilling space battle and what not, and
plenty of build up to the "big launch" which will
catapult the Robinson family into space. Matt Le Blanc
comes along for the ride and is reasonable, though not
convincing.
In fact, none of the actors put in a particularly
good performance, largely due to the shoddy script
they had to work with. After half an hour or so, what
promises to be a good old fashioned space shoot-em-up
turns out to be little more than an episode of Star
Trek, except with weaker characters. The plot is both
boring and confusing (an interesting combination) and
never really gets going.
But the worst thing
about Lost In Space is the end of it. Yes, I know that
normally when watching a bad movie we can't wait for the
end, but with this film it can only be described as
bizarre. The crew go into hyperjump (or some such
gibberish), the idea being that they can mysteriously travel
through a star (it's true; unbelievable, I know) and
suddenly the movie ends. It just...comes to a halt and the
credits start to roll. I thought we were just in the
middle of the movie and that things were about to get
interesting at last, but alas it was not to be. To properly
describe the bizarre ending of Lost In Space, think of
something like Star Wars when Obi Wan Kanobi gets killed...
imagine if the movie ended right there...the credits just
started to roll...you'd think that was a bit weird,
right? Well, that's what Lost In Space is like: a bit
weird, a good first half hour, but then descending into
mediocrity and confusion.
Don't buy this movie unless
it's very, VERY, cheap. And judging by the way they
were trying to sell off the DVD version in my local
store at a knock down price, you may not have to wait
for long.
This movie is a lollapalooza of anything goes. The story seems to be written by a 4 years old. Don't waste your money on this one. If you do, there is a big chance that you will scream "WHAT?" at the end.
Lame is the only word to describe this movie. Not seeing the original series I expected to like the movie. However, the acting was weak, along with the plot, the really bad matte paintings, and the computer generated pet. The only really good thing about the movie was the effect when they came out of hyperdrive.
As a Science-Fiction film this was somewhat BLAH and disappointing. However the special effects were very good and the sound track was catchy. As for the acting, Mimi Rogers was pretty convincing as Mrs. Robinson, and William Hurt was not too bad, as was Matt Le Blanc who did look pretty sexy in a space suit. Gary Oldman made me laugh as the traitorous Dr Smith, and Jack Johnson was a likable Will Robinson. Even Helen Graham was good as Judy but I keep envisioning her as Roller Girl in Boogie Nights so that was a put off. The WORST acting award however goes to Lacey Chabert, is it just me or does she have the most irritating voice in the WHOLE world? It drove me nuts and I kept wishing she had mutated into a spider and not Dr Smith! However if you want a film that does not tax the brain cells, watch this, it has it's moments if nothing else.
For lost in space fans this is a must see<EOM>.
don't ever see this movie
This was a very good movie. Even though it left a lot of loose ends.
