    This album is absolutely fabolous. If you don't own it you will tomorrow...Heard song "here it comes" on a compilation, and searched for this album for several months.The song is just a fourchord thing, really, or almost but it shines. I should hate ...this album, cause it should be too soft for my present taste, but it is irresistable. Cach the sun is no soft though. only collaboration with Steve Osborne on the album.     This album is absolutely sensational. Beautiful melodies, intoxicating rhythms, soulful vocals. What more could you ask for. I haven't been taken in by many albums like I was this one. With songs like Catch the Sun, The Man who Told Everything, Here ...it Comes and the cedar room, it contains some of the most beautiful and addictive songs I have heard in a long time.     I just happened to walk into a HMV's listening station then saw & listened to Doves eerie & haunting sound that just exposed,opened my ears and took out money from my pocket.Its a laid back alternative rock with a hint of metal sound.The track "Cedar... Room" defines this group's musical direction one that will be uncharted.Pick this one up! Read more Less

    Some albums don't need the hype...

    There are some albums which don't need the hype and all the marketing glitz simply because they are the real deal and just are brilliant...You know when an album is special when you can't stop listening to it and that's what you get with Doves', 'Lo...st Soul'...Yes, this album is good...really good!!!Initially, I was hooked on the album's first song, 'Firesuite' as a really trippy, laid back type of tune...a song perfect to chill out to over a beer or six.However, if there is one song which sums up the musical intelligence these guys can relay through their music, then it would have to be the tune, 'the cedar room'.Just like a Kubrick film, the meesage in this song maybe a little hard to fathom at first, but the more one listens to this song, the more one gets out of it.There are so many good tunes on this album...in fact, one would be hard pressed to find a bad one. This is an album where I'm sure you'll find recommending it to virtually everyone who likes talented, intelligent music. I know because my best mate recommended this album to me!In closing, some albums need and use all the marketing tricks and 'wanky music industry writer names' to get you to buy it. Hey, I couldn't even find a website for the Doves!However with 'Lost Souls', the only recommendation needed is that this album is good, really good...It's as simple as that! Read more Less

    I got this album hoping to hear tunes like "Catch the sun" but how very wrong I was. All tracks apart from catch the sun are subtle, folky tunes which disappointed me at first. After a few listens though I found myself humming their tunes for hours ...and becoming rather hooked on their style!!!Standout tracks:Here it Comes, Sea Song, Catch the sun. Read more Less
