Lost in Translation
Pros: The title
Cons: Boring
The title caught me and I thought it will be hilarious. I was disappointed! The scenario was redundant and I did not see any story in it!...I could not finish watchingâ¦sorry!

I haphazardly bought this flick when it came out, didn't watch it right away either. Popped it in over the weekend and fell asleeep. I think Bill Murray should stick to slapsticks and I am so happy and glad that I am not alone in feeling that this movie went no where. I was afraid to even write a review and if todays movie-making is any indication of the signs of the times, I highly recommend not wasting twenty bucks; I should have kept my money for something more practical- like a blindfold.

The fantastic thing about this story is that it could very well be true. It is something that could happen to anyone, any given day. There is no shame, no need to hide thoughts or feelings. No need to crash cars, or flash guns. There is love between the characters, there is no sex. of course, this is not a movie for violent-monger audiences. I adore this movie, it is a rare beauty.

It is about missed chances to change your options and it is a piece of advice to obey to social rules and contracts.
Maybe the director did not have the opportunity of not a happy end, but to support the idea of fighting for happiness.

I know a lot of people who didn't like this movie for a whole bunch of reasons and I think that's what made us all unique in a sense. But ultimately separates 'US'(people who loved the movie)from the rest. I love the way Sofia(the director) unravels the context of the movie which most of 'THEM'(people who hated the movie)never understood.
The story brings together two individuals where they find themselves 'LOST'in a place where everything is different. Kinda reminds you of the torment that being lonely isn't such a very fun thing to deal with, but in the movie they are forced to and they need to. It's like getting kidnapped by aliens and forced to live in their planet for a period of time. What would you feel if you saw a fellow human in a very strange place?

This movie should have never been made. direction was very bad and story line was worse. Acting was so criminal, I am surprised that no one got arrested. Talk about justice; everyone associated with this crap should be grateful that we live in a country which espouses free expression.

It has been a long time since I really enjoyed a romantic comedy. There is so much of real life in this movie that anyone that is truly in touch with his feelings could identify with the situations as depicted. The acting is great (I never thought Bill Murray capable of acting such a role). A movie worth seeing over and over. This movie will not be appreciated by anyone who goes to the movies strictly for action and suspense.

As a huge fan of Bill Murray's I was excited to see this film. I couldn't believe how truly bad it was. Even Bill Murray could not help it.

I thought that this move would be different for once and it looked good. This movie was different, but it was not good. Through the whole movie it was about two people in a hotel room and going out at night. Through the whole movie there are like only less than 10 conversations. I couldn't wait until the movie was over. There was no point in the movie and no excitment. The movie was very dull and i will never see this movie again.

Critics agree that Lost in Translation is one of the years best films, but it is not for everyone. Someone looking for a lot of action or violence is not going to be happy seeing this film, however, someone interested in a thoughtful, well put together film will be thrilled.
Lost centers around Bob and Charlotte are two Americans adrift in Tokyo. Bob is an actor going though midlife crisis who is being paid two million dollars to endorse whiskey. He has a hard time with the language barrier, and is convinced his transator is leaving things out. Charlotte is a recent Yale graduate hanging around while her photographer husband shoots a Rock and Roll band. While her husband is at work, Charlotte does some exploring on her own. Although her journies are beautiful and sheds light on the culture she is in, it makes her "feel nothing". Both are discontent and dislocated, adrift in a flashy, neon colored unfamiliar land experiencing communication meltdowns.
Hollywood expects you to believe that Bob and Charlotte will have a grandiose love affair, however Sofia Coppola has a different idea about connections. Bob and Charlotte only kiss on the cheek and never have sex. They are just two people who can't get enough of each other's company, two people wondering about the state of their respective relationships and just happen to be doing it together. Bob's wife is redecorating the house, and that seems to be all she's thinking about. Charlotte's husband is hanging out with ditzy celebrities and is using new hair products. Neither can believe that these are the same people they married.
Bob and Charlotte take the city by storm, going to clubs, singing karaoke, and eating foreign food, doing things they probably never expected to do in Tokyo, putting the pieces together. Their relationship grows into a good friendship, each escaping the burdens of their relationships.
Both Murry and Johansson are superb in portraying their characters, and do it effortlessly. The humor in the film comes naturally and not at a punch line, and the sweetness that is Bob and Charlotte's relationship will endure the test of time.Was this review helpful? Yes - NoCoppola`s spoiled brat

Japan as seen through the eyes of a rich daughter who never got to leave the hotel room. lacks dimension. Murray`s talent is underused. My biggest point to make is this: there are many ways to show the characters are bored in a film, WITHOUT boring the audience at the same time. I think Sophia Coppola got the two confused.
