A slow jam specialist from Havana, FL, a small town outside of Tallahassee. A former high school athlete, Lorenzo Smith has that rugged look and build girls love. The strong gospel influence in his phrasing and delivery comes from his family's church roots. His early musical influences includedMichael Jackson, El Debarge, and New Edition, but he couldn't help being swayed by Otis Redding, James Brown, and Sam Cooke, his mom's favorites. Later influences, the urban soul giants': Luther Vandross, Freddy Jackson, Will Downing, and others. Lorenzo cut his first album Let Me Show You, with Alpha International Productions who assigned the distribution to CEMA Records. The single "Tic Tok" made some local noise but never really got off the ground. His second LP dropped on Alpha International Records when he was 19, the self titled Lorenzo is his best-selling LP, spawning the hits "Real Love," and "I Can't Stand The Pain." Lorenzo even wrote two of the songs "My Love," and "Natashall." Disputes with Alpha International a.k.a. Alpha Crew caused a three-year limbo between albums. His last CD Love On My Mind, felled on Luke Campbell's Luke Records in 1995; he also contributed vocals to Campbell's Uncle Luke CD before fading into obscurity.
