THIS ALBUM IS GREAT,LONDON TOWN JUST SOUND LIKE MACCA BEST SONGS.
BUY IT ,BUY IT,BUY IT WITH MACONHA 10 TIMES BETTER
This was Macca's last album with his best line-up of Wings including Jim McCullogh and Joe English. Recorded between London and the Virgin Islands this comes up as another album that ranks among McCartney's best. Included here are many rhythmic acoustic guitar based songs (Famous Groupies, Deliver Your Children), plenty of sad and melancholic songs (London Town is one of the best songs Macca has ever written), one of the best folk type of songs that Denny has ever sung (Children Children) and yet another song that contributes to another great album finale (as exactly happens on "Band on the Run").
With this album we have the ending of a superb string of Wings albums.
Londown Town is good but is not my favourite album of the Wings. I think songs like Waterspout are sound better than Backwards Traveller.
yeah say you were 40 and older and embarassed but you loved this album..you and your wife..well you are all right and in good company..paul and wings at his absolute best
One of my favorites.Backwards Traveller(read backyard traveller)is a great song, better yet if you are stoned
This is a very good album from Paul and any Paul's fan must have it!
If it's the great Paul McCartney, it's always worth a listen. LONDON TOWN, though not the strongest Wings effort, nevertheless contains some very nice things. Of course, it has the hit "With a Little Luck" but the more obscure songs on this album are the most intriguing. Particularly a great, wonderfully harmonious song called "Don't Let it Bring You Down", complete w/ Native American style rhythms and sounds, and beautiful harmonies between Big Mac and Denny Laine. Also of note, the sweet lullaby "I'm Carrying", as well as "London Town", "Cafe on the Left Bank", and Denny Laine's lead vocals on the melodic "Children Children" and the engaging "Deliver Your Children".
Wierd stuff. It seems to me they set out to do a 'Venus And Mars' mark 2, with mostly rock and roll songs. But the album lacks any direction whatsoever. The songs are mostly unlistenable, with only 'Girlfriend' and the hit 'With A Little Luck' standing out as decent tracks. Good to get if you're already a fan, but otherwise, stick to the basics: 'Band On the Run,' 'Speed Of Sound,' 'Tug Of War,' or 'All the Best.'
