A Must Have For The Gym

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 24, 2005 | 6 out of 7 found this Logitech Wireless Headphones for iPod review helpful

    Pros: Wireless Capability

    Cons: Bass Quality

I'm one of those clutzy people in the gym that gets my headphones yanked off my head when the cord gets caught in a weight machine or when I'm playing air drums. When I saw these headphones in the Apple store, I was hesitant. After all, I...9;d never spent $150.00 on a set of headphones. On top of that, I had not had good luck with wireless items before. The quality generally left a lot to be desired. Since I had bought a couple of Logitech items before and had been happy with their performance, I decided to give these a try. First of all, if you have the new Video IPod, this will not work with it since it has both the mini plug and the remote plug. Also, the instuctions that come with the unit really only gets you started. That being said, this headphone worked right out of the box. There is a small box (transmitter) that plugs into the top of the IPod. It will search for the headphone. Once both are turned on, there is a blue light that comes on both the headphone and the transmitter. Once the transmitter and headphone communicate with each other, the headphone will have limited controls over the IPod. On the right side of the headphones, it has a play/pause button, track advance and track back buttons and volume up and down buttons. You cannot hold the volume buttons to increase the volume-you must keep clicking it to increase or decrease the volume. You have to turn on the power at the IPod, the headphones will not turn it on. It will pause the music, but if the IPod goes to 'sleep,' it will not turn it back on. The sound quality is good for the size of the headphones. The bass response is lacking, and the overall volume that you can get out of the headphones is a little low. There is also an odd shape to the earpieces. Instead of being flat or concave, it's convex. The above items may save your hearing, but it won't block out the rest of the world. The wireless aspect is amazing. You can put the IPod in your pocket and there is no degration of the signal. The signal can travel about 30 feet, so if you leave your IPod at one weight station and go to another nearby, you can forget that you left it (as I did recently). If you are like me, and can't work out without your music-the IPod was a Godsend. These headphones complete the package. Read more Less

    Pros: Great sound, great distance,

    Cons: They break

I had read reviews that said these cracked in a very short time. i knowing better bought them and was VERY careful with them, never dropped them and made sure they were never stretched when while putting them on or off. Despite my care they developed... a small crack in the center of the neck band and as other reviewers have stated...it is just a matter of time before the crack damages the wires in the plastic band and the unit stops working. I love them and hope that they come up with a better model soon. Read more Less
