Logitechs Steering Wheel is Great for Driving!

By WilbertC  Jan 5, 2003 | 3 out of 4 found this Logitech MOMO Racing review helpful

Its overally quality is not as good as the Momo Force, but the stick shifter and unique carpet grip system make up for it. THe value is also there too.I have used the steering wheel for most newer games with no problems. For some older games, a littl...e bit of tweaking is required. The force feedback is reponsive and realitics (in good games). I have used this wheel for Colin McRae Rally 2 and it works great. I use the sequential stick shifter to fly through the gears. I felt like a real rally racer as I quickly shifted through 6 gears. It does take a little to get used to, however. Using the stick shifter requires coordination and concentration in order to succeed. This wheel comes with paddle shifter too, for those not up to the challenge. This wheel comes with 10 buttons:2 Padlles2 (Up\DOwn) Shifter6 On Center of WheelTh pedals work well and the carpet grip system does the job. Don't buy this wheel

    By tomc  Sep 9, 2006

    Pros: durible

    Cons: software

I bought this wheel, part because it was said to be the best. Boy were they wrong. Not long after I installed the software I ran into a serious problem. Each time my hard drive was accessed the controller reset itself so that maximum throttle was 70%.... I contacted the company and they said it was the pedals and I should send them in for replacement. I did. Did not solve the problem. I contacted them again and told them and they said "Oh, well we have a patch." Tried it out. Worked for an hour and then crapped out. I contacted Logictec again and said you need new software this stuff is crap and they insisted it was the controller not the software. The wheel is ok but the software needed to use it for anything is discustingly horrible. Don't bother contacting them either as they'll only say "its not the software." Read more Less

    Momo Racing Wheel

Want realism in your racing sims? Slide behind Logitech's new Momo Racing Wheel and start your engine. This is a low-cost version of last year's $200 steering wheel for PCs, replacing colorful racing stripes, real leather, and metal parts with pure black, rubber, and plastic, but the wheel works fine and comes in $100 cheaper, so it's easy to overlook the missing elements. And it beats the heck out of driving with your keyboard's directional arrows. You get a sequential stick shift, two paddle shifters, and a set of durable gas and brake pedals. Add six programmable buttons, a comfortable grip, and a full 240 degrees of rotation, and you've got a rock-solid controller. What's more, if you're into flight sims, the gas and brake pedals can act as rudder controls. Even better, with select games this plug-and-play controller will give you force feedback. That's true cause for celebration. OS X finally has built-in support for force feedback, so game developers can add tactile input for ... Read more
