    Pros: none

    Cons: none

the reason there aren't as many songs off of frogstomp, was because this tour was to promote their diorama cd.

    Silverchairs Live From Faraway Stables

    By Randal  Feb 17, 2005

    Pros: Good Length; Awesome Guitar

    Cons: Not Enough Frogstomp Songs

This is silverchair's first and only official live recording. Which is disapointing because watcing this makes you wish there were more, especially from the earlier days, with songs that would have included Pure Massacre, Tomorrow and Shade. The ...only song played from their frist album Frogstomp was Israel's Son, this is a highlight though I wish Daniel Johns would play these older heavier songs without the background DJ and organ. These classic mosh pit songs loose their rawness with all the funking up. Though I suspect it is more a case of Silverchair becoming bored of playing the same songs in the same old way so they are looking for ways ot make it more exciting for themselves which then rubs off onto the crowd. I can gurantee those who loved the songs from the most recent album diorama won't be disapointed. There is also a few songs from both Neon Ballroom and Freakshow. Read more Less

Pro Reviews: Live From Faraway Stables

  • All Music Guide

Silverchair came under great scrutiny when they first appeared on the scene in 1994, with a sound that was obviously a replication of Nirvana. While the group's following has dipped considerably Stateside from when they first burst on the scene, the Australian trio has managed to retain a sizable following in their homeland, which served as the locale for their 2003 concert album, ‘Live from Faraway Stables.' A mammoth release, the four disc set consists of two CD's and two DVD's, and includes the group's entire performance from August 19, 2003, when two sets were performed one comprised of their more tranquil tunes, and a second comprised of rockin' compositions. For those who still think of the group as a grunge clone, the first disc here should change your mind, especially on such tracks as the piano ballad "After All These Years" and the surprisingly popy "Ana's Song." Elsewhere though, tracks such as "Petrol Chlorine" sound like your average ‘rock band gets a symphonic overhaul'... fare. But what would a Silverchair release be without some blaring rock n' roll? Disc two delivers, including "Israel's Son" (which indeed does sound like a Nirvana bside) and the monstrous riff rocker, "Anthem for the Year 2000." With the same tracklisting replicated song for song on the DVD as the CD, ‘Live from Faraway Stables,' is obviously aimed at diehard Silverchair devotees. - Greg Prato, All Music Guide Read more Less

Biography

Silverchair

The Australian grunge band Silverchair quickly rose to international stardom in 1995 with their debut album, Frogstomp. Sounding like a bastard offspring of Nirvana and Pearl Jam, Silverchair gained more notoriety for their age than their music -- at the time they released Frogstomp, they were 15 years old.Originally called the Innocent Criminals, Silverchair was formed... Read more
