GG1 Electric Locomotives. The Joshua Lionel Cowen Series GG1 makes a triumphant return in 2005, packed with top-of-the-line features and available in two new popular liveries. Serving the largest electrified rail network in the nation, the GG1 electric remains the longest serving mainline locomotive ever, running from the 1930s into the 1980s. For 2005, the GG1 is available in the 5-stripe Tuscan scheme that debuted in the 1950s and a green single-stripe scheme that many of the streamlined motors wore at the end of the Pennsy era. Each model includes separately applied detail parts such as opening doors and accurate builder's plates. PRR #4925 even includes distinctive Farr air filters. Primarily passenger power, even those GG1's pressed into part-time freight service kept their steam heat generators. To simulate prototypical operation, press a button on the CAB-1 Remote Controller and watch a plume of smoke erupt from the blow-off stack. Other action-packed features include intricate metal pantographs that deploy and retract automatically with RailSounds 5.0 effects synchronized to each operation. For customized operation, a CAB-1 command can adjust pantograph orientation regardless of direction. Those who prefer conventional operation are not left out. Most of these and other exciting features can easily be accessed with traditional transformer control.
