Pros: Very easy to install and set up for the non-technical user.
Cons: I haven't noticed any yet.
This unit provides more than adequate support for multiple computers over the entire building.
Have had to call Tech Support twice for help with connecting older computers to the network and found the Tech Support staff very efficient and ready with all the answers to get us up and operating quickly. The power flow is consistent and downtime has been non-existant. Speed is fantastic and supplies all our company needs. Software that comes with the unit is easy to use.
Pros: Excellent Range / perfectly works with wireless IP phones
Cons: Nothing yet
I've set it up on 2nd floor of one of my friends three storied office building (who had WRT54G earlier) covers all 3 floors including good signal in some areas of the basement. and this has removed all dead-spot experience we had with WRT54Gs
Works relay good with linksyâs wireless Skype phone which allows him to make VOIP calls excellent voice quality even when he walks around while talking over the phone.
Pros: Being able to install DD-WRT FIRMWARE big plus!
Cons: Somtimes will have issues with dhcp after changeing a major setting in the dd-wrt firmware
I love this access point I also went from a wrt54g v3 to this and it definately tops the cake.. it's Much faster atleast the processor is almost 300mhz .. You can in stall the Mini DD-WRT firmware and be able to change everything linksys doesn't want you to change but I somtimes strugle after makeing some simple changes you will just lose the ip from the cable modem for some reason someimes just click reboot and it will grab an ip and be up again other times I have had to push the reset button to get it back to default settings then all the sudden I get an ip from my cable modem .. weird or what.. it's gotta be a bug in the beta v24 dd-wrt firmware for this.. thought this is the lastest and greatest and 90% of the time it works fine.. i just like adjust total number of ports and timesouts for tcp and udp for bittorent .. becaue bittorent connects to so many ip address and opens so many ports. the standard linksys firmware just wont' work.. It will sometimes Lock up doing alot of bittorent downloads at once because your just pushing the port value to the max so I set mine about 3000 just in case.. it says 4096 max but I think maybe that is causing the ip address issue I haven't pushed it up that hi and I don't need it anyone it's just whats recommended by them in the help. I just maybe something with this beta firmware that causes it to happen when you push the port limit to the max.. who? knows.. lol.. thought i would post a good review.. I dropped it though off the top of my dresser im gonna take it back and say im getting bad signal which it isn't the best and it could be because i have an 802.11B dlink ith a 500Mw HAWKING BOOSTER and directional antenna pretty close
i will have 2-3 BARS with the Linksys 300N v1 but have a 5 full bars with my junk old modified dlink with an extra external antenna wired up and the 200mw hack.. ;-) I like it because if your surfin the net . 802.11b Goes alot farther than G does I have found when I pick up a G netowrk and can't log on.. I force my internal wireless on my laptop to B and. it will hop right on.. it's just better thru walls.. it doesn't have to keep negotiating between 54-22-11-5-2-1 Mbps and it will to.. just back and forth sometimes.. but Im in an apartment complex and I can go about 2000 feet from my apartment wth my hp laptop with centrino and still be online.. with low signal but never the less thats going thru two walls and a garage door...from my bed room..
Have a good one all.. ;- any questions about this router. email me. .. arichards42@gmail.com i'll be happy to help ya out as im on the road to figureing
this out to.. yes once again you can put dd-wrt firmware on it.. just look up dd-wrt wrt300n and you'll find it.. should be v24 Beta Mini but beleive me it has everything.......... @k well have a good one don't hesitate to ask me any technical quesions..
Chillin in ohio.. -)
Pros: Easy To set Up
Cons: Very unstable and lacks through walls
I thought it would have been better then the wireless G so i gve that set up away and spent a little over 400 dollars on everything i needed for the Wireless N and was way dissapointed after all machines were hooked hooked up you spend 5 minutes on line then your off for hours hopeing it will reconnect so now i am out all this money casue bestbuy wouldnt tke it back and let me get the wireless g again casue it was opened.
Pros: It works
Cons: Antennas cannot be replaced with high gain, performance with A/B/G is not as advertised
I purchased the WRT300 to replace a WRT54G that died (probably because I installed 3rd party firmware that allowed me to boost the XMIT power by a factor of 10, though a post-mortem has not yet been done).
The product information claims that it will provide increased performance with wireless A/B/G connections in addition to the alleged gain of Wireless-N (which I have not yet tested). Unfortunately, the actual performance appears to be worse.
Despite a better signal-strength reading than I had with the 54G, my connection speed is lower. The 54G would reliably connect at 54Mbit even at a signal level of less thaan 50%. The 300N however, will not connect at greater than 36Mbit (frequently much lower), even from a distance of 7 feet with a signal level of 83% (currently only 12Mbit at 84% at a distance of 7 feet, in the same room).
I am rather disappointed with this performance. I would have been better off purchasing another 54G and a pair of high-gain antennas. The antennas of the 300N do not appear to be easily replaceable, unlike the 54G.
Pros: excellent range
Cons: none so far
I recently purchased my wrt300-n at my local best buy . It s great . I have a 3500 sq ft house and i get great coverage throughout . It has made my life so much easier , I have a one yr old ,and I really need to be on the computer , so this is a life saver . Easy setup, great speed , and cost effective . I recommend highly .
Pros: good coverage
Cons: none yet
This product has good compatability with my, all G network, so I can't say anything bad about any problems with a multi format network which other reviews have mentioned. It eliminated dead spots my former G router had and now I am hoping to upgrade my PCI cards for N cards to check out the speed.
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Unstability and bad routing
I bought this router because I have had an old Linksys router before. The reason for going away from Linksys in the first place, was that If more than 3 computers share the same dsl line, the router only let one user have a good connection, while it routs the other two to a poor connection (I have a 6000/3000 line).
I thought that this problem was fixed and solved now, but no. As soon as I started using the new Linksys router, I had the same problems as in the "old days".
I have packed it down again and will return it to the store.
Pros: Looks good
Cons: works like older routers
High expectations, poor performance. This thing works about the same as the old wireless g router that I thought I was upgrading. It would be nice to know what language those technical support people speak so I could understand them.
Pros: Easy to Set up
Cons: Hard to connect to with a Firewall
I happen to have a huge house and this router is wonderful. I can sit on the other side of the house (which I could never do before with other Linksys or D-Link routers) and be wireless. It was easy to set up as long as you set up all item at one time. I happen to have two computers linked, a print server, wireless printer, and an internet phone service. I tried to set up a firewall figuring that if I got such good reception my neighbors would as well. I was able to only set up one ocmputer with the firewall the other was impossible to program as the network key that I thought I programmed would not let me connect to the network. So, I turned off the firewall. The help desk was not much help - they told me that my internet provider was to blame and the internet provider told me it was the router. Needless to say I gave up on th firewall.
