Pros: Great combo package
Cons: I reboot it daily or more
Do not purchase tihs product. If you must buy my used one.
Pros: one unit
Cons: doesn't work
I am on my third replacement. The unit randomly resets and shuts down your access to the internet when it does this. Linksys blames the ISP, but this is definitely a Linksys issue. I am going to accept my loss and buy a separate modem and router.
Pros: it works somtimes
Cons: also it works somtimes
The biggest problems i had with the wcg200 was it wasent reliable. it would randomly reset itself will online. and it robbed me of connection speed through ether net and wirless. however the built in firewall and firmware for gaming applications worked very well. but it just drops its connection and resets itself way to often. i recentley perchased the wrt54gs router. and running that to a 7 dollar webstar moden it ran twice as fast and i didnt have any connection problems. my recomendations would be to not get this product. stick with the indavidual modem and router set up. ive had alot better luck with it.
Pros: non
Cons: does not work!!
wcg200 links modem/router is a peice of junk. My connection constantly crashed. Tech support tried and tried. After weeks they sent me a "refurbished" another cabel modem (wcg200) This was not tested when it was sent out and did not work for me on arrival. Tech support had me hit the "reset" button. The cable/modem/router still had the same problem from previous owner. I trashed this and bought a cable motorola surboard modem and a dlink dir-625. My system runs perfect!! I am downloading constantly between 15meg and 30meg. Heed my warning..
Pros: Tech Support enabled WPA encryption
Cons: Droped connections
After returning a Motorola SBG900 for lack of support (see 2nd review) I bought a Linksys. The Linksys Tech support helped setup WPA encryption and all is well with two PC laptops and an Apple Mac desktop. There have been 2 or 3 disconnections in 4 weeks which were solved by switching it off for 20 seconds then restarting. This disconnect frequency is much less than the Actiontec DSL modem which I used prior to the switch to cable.
Pros: easy to use and set up
Cons: loss connection when download
I have bought many Linksys products and still will however this product has a tendency to loose connection when you are downing big files and/or have two or more computers on at the same time trying to get information from the internet at high levels.
If you are a gamer this in not for you. If you merely just surf the net and from time to time download small packs then go for it.
Pros: Easy Setup, rugged construction
Cons: No hard manual
I had to replace my old modem, router and weirless router. The store had this all in one piece of kit, so I bought it. Plugged it in and turned it on, then told my ISP the new MAC and was connected instantly. My connection even seems quicker. I ran a broadband speed test and got up to 12Gbs. Pretty simple web based setup, but maybe only because I've seen similar setup on my old kit. I did find it easier to the search the net than the CD for the routers IP address and default login.
It's a rugged little thing. My odl one was so light the cable would pull it over, but this one stays in place.
Very happy so far, but it's only been a week.
Pros: It works when I reboot everything
Cons: It stops working and I have to reboot
I had lots of problems with this router. First the signal was not good in my condo so I had to get an extender. Then it worked great. Second, I had Adelphia Cable and I spent 6 hours with tech support to set it up. Talking to people who know less than you and are reading off of a screen is not help. I was lucky that other people were having the same problem and I finally read a message board that had the answer. Up and running in 5 minutes. Go figure.
Now I am on Time Warner Cable and I am constantly getting dropped. I have spent 6 hours with their tech people, but they won't support the router at "level 3" becuase I didn't give Time Warner my money. One call I was on hold for 1 1/2. My next step is to call Linksys Tech support. What a pain.
I wonder if the cable companies deliberately cause problems so you have to pay the cable company for their machines? Just a though. What a pain. If some one knows a good "plug and play" router company let us know...
Pros: easy to reset
Cons: Drops off wireless computers for no reason
This is the first wireless modem I have purchased. I do not feel that this one meets my expectations. There's no written instructions on set up. Calling the company takes time but person was able to configure the unit.
Pros: Eliminates some wiring clutter
Cons: Unreliable, dropouts, stalls, can't upgrade, hard to configure, etc.
I've had this product for one year. I use the product in the Southeast US (Time Warner Cable, "Roadrunner"). When it is working it is typically okay, but often it is not working. Here are some of the problems I see when using my WCG200:
I get network connections that frequently drop out, the unit spontaneously resets itself (typically when I'm streaming video but once in a while just because I've entered the room), it's hard to configure the wireless settings, and when a power outage occurs and I unplug WCG200 for an hour or two some of the secure settings become corrupted and the only fix is to reset the unit back to its defaults and start over.
I also don't get 5 Mbps but that is most likely the fault of my expensively poor broadband connection and not the wireless cable modem. All in all, I would recommend not getting the wireless combo solution but instead getting separate cable modem and router, and after working with Linksys customer service I would have to recommend not getting a Linksys product period.
Pros: Wireless, cable modem/dsl, and 4 port hub (switch)
Cons: no 802.11a
802.11b/g devices slow down to the lowest common denominator; if there is a slow .11b device talking, the whole system slows down to .11b speeds instead of using the higher .11g speeds.
802.11a is only high speed. This device doesn't do .11a.
